I just recently re-discovered this little lost gem, and have been having a ton of fun with it. Although I never played it "back in the day," developer Action Forms's previous title Chasm: The Rift was the FPS that basically kick-started my interest in games, and I remember seeing a lot about the Carnivores series (as well as Vivisector and some early information about the would-be sleeper hit Cryostasis) while browsing around their site.

Well, I'll take the lack of replies as a "no" :P
wasn't that just "Deer Hunter" with a different set of textures?

I do remember, that I played it once but disliked it totally.

Assuming that the deer in Deer Hunter actively tried to hunt you down and kill you, then yes -__-
sometimes it felt like that :)
Take the lack of answers as "we don't browse the forum every day, it might take us a while". ;-)

I played the Ice Age one, and it was fun. Though that crossbow was a bit awkward. :-)

Yeah, the crossbow takes some finesse to use properly. The instructions say its top pin is sited to 80 meters, but in actuality I think it's something like 100. It does make up for that with its power, though. And the fact that it's so silent. I've had some situations where I've had a clear shot at my prey, but was afraid to take the shot since a Spinosaurus was close by. Those times, I dearly wished I had brought along a crossbow :P
I loved Carnivores. I've never been a big fan of hunting games, but as a kid I obsessed over dinosaurs and found this game to be a dream come true. The feeling that the dinosaurs were stalking you while you were hunting them was awesome. My brother and I used ot compete to see who could kill the bigger T-Rex's, good times. My I should try to find a copy of that somewhere, it'd be fun to fire it up again for old times sake.
I still have the original on cd some where had 2 but lost it. loved these.
Yeah, I used to play the first in the series all the time. The landscapes were pretty impressive at the time, and of course: dinosaurs.

How awesome would it be with a remake using an advanced engine?
Would be nice to have a modern remake of this, complete with working stealth. AFAIR stealth was a nightmare. You can't get within 10 feet of a raptor without it running after you.
Reminds me a bit of a PSP/PS3 Mini game I saw reviewed once. Hmm...let me see...

Ah yes - this one. Same people?

I have that mini on my PS3 Its mostly the same game. The terrain is much worse looking in the mini/ipod version. Its missing one dinosaur, but has two or three new ones (only one huntable). Im pretty sure the dino's graphics and animation are taken right from the original. The game has different controls and such, but it does feel like playing the same game. Its way harder on the portable version though. Once I got the hang of the game on PC it was so easy to get those eye shots on the Rex. Not so easy with an analog stick though. I have yet to take one down. They did recently update it though with improved analog control. I haven't tried since then, so maybe I can do it now.

Ice Age is also on minis and ipod.

It's not too bad. Yes, dinos tend to notice you, but the game isn't really a stealth series like Thief. Because ultimately you're going to be noticed one way or another. It's a little more about getting into an advantageous position and controlling the situation than about staying invisible. And you really aren't meant to be able to get close to dinos without being seen. If you could, the games would be ridiculously easy.

It's true, though, that there have been times that I wished they were a little more forgiving about being seen.
