There was a SWAT game on Amiga that was not Police Quest. You did not have to go through hours of training to play. I remember crawling under searchlights to get closer, and looking through my sniper scope at another building where the bad guys were.
Also a fantasy game that was a lot like a chess game in a way. You could use different creatures with different powers and movevment,..but on a large board game with lakes, trees etc on it.

The first was Hostage

The second was Dark Legions.

No clue who has the rights now, but Hostage and its sequel would be a nice addition. Haven't played Hostage for about 20 years ...

Would like to see more old Interplay games like Demon's Forge, Wasteland, Bard's Tale(one of my fav's), Dragon Wars, Star Trek games, maybe even Borrowed Time.

would be nice then to have some interplay anniversary pack. but that might be wishful thinking.

You should mark SimonG's first answer as the solution to your question - just a reminder, like
"Hostages". Wow, that takes me back. There were so many versions of that game released on many platforms. I had it on my Acorn Archimedes but it was released on the NES if I remember correctly.

Yep, just checked on Wikipedia. So many platforms. :)

I enjoyed the searchlight stage, the sniper part was okay (plus it was optional but it helped to remove some of the terrorists).

I didn't really like the abseiling part though as you had to get it exactly right for your man to get through the windows, as even just a couple of pixels off position and they'd do nothing, wasting the time.

The last part of the game was good for its time too, a 3D maze inside the building where you shoot the terrorists and rescue the hostages. Not quite a first person shooter (no aiming) but fun nevertheless.

You use that word in english?

I was still very young when I played this game and my brother told me the hostages were actually the bosses. No one ever got out alive of that building ....

Yep, we use abseiling. Could have used rappelling too.
Somebody else remembers Dark Legions? I loved that game so much as a kid.

I must admit I didn't get it - I thought it was going to be 'Battle Chess 2 - Chinese Chess' or one of the Archons...

I never played Battle Chess or Archon, so I have no idea how similar or dissimilar it is. I do remember my dad having Dark Legions, playing with my uncle (the one battle that stands out in my memory is my dad with a water elemental chasing my uncle's fire elemental), and being so incredibly disappointed when he sold it at a yard sale and promised me he would buy a CD copy. He never did, though. God I hope it ends up here.
