Awesome I used to love playing archon on my old atari. Not sure how the 4 player modes going to work unless its 2v2 but will see that when they release more info.

Never played Archon before, but I've heard plenty about it. (Especially amongst Star Control fans, oddly enough.)
This seems like a good time to jump into the franchise as any.

Wow, I remember playing this long ago on my NES. Pretty fun. Might have to check it out again. I agree the 4 player modes sound wierd. Although I remember seeing some 4 player chess games before, never played it though. I also had some cards to add into play which were called "Nightmare Chess", which was also fun, but annoying if you didn't get any good cards. Not to mention the shot glass chess. Makes ya think even harder cuz that alcohol doesn't help ya make smart moves.

I am looking forward to this because I have two Logitech gamepads and one modded arcade stick with imported parts from Japan (might be getting another) for my PC.
This would be a great family / friends game whereby they can just come over and play with you. (eg. sports games, fighting games and etc)

What can I say? I always played Light, but necromancing a thread doesn't feel like something the light side would do. :)
They've released it for the PC already, version 1.0 is out, sans online multiplayer yet, but they're working on it and they will release it as an update on a further date.
I love what they've done with it. Not only do you get to play it classic style if you want to, they've added 4 player support on a single machine, controller support, other game types, AI difficulties, specials for each unit and of course, improved graphics.
They're only selling it on Impulse or through paypal on their main website. They're still in negotiations with Steam, though.

Sounds quite cool, actually. I'm going to check it out.

I love Archon, and I'd buy it, but it's still a bit too steep. Will wait for a price drop first.
