Roberttitus: I don't know why people are so concerned with rep points anyways (...)
While I personally have no clue, I'm curious as to what happens on achieving five stars as hinted by GoG in the website help:
"Getting one or two stars is fairly easy, while five stars is a serious achievement. Those who earn maximum reputation can expect some kind of nice bonus (surprise, surprise! :)."

During beta? Probably a few free games, perhaps all of them. Now? I expect absolutely diddly squat.

Is there anybody around the forum with five stars? I haven't seen anybody yet, but me being rather new to the community that likely means nothing.

Not yet. The highest right now is 4 stars and there are really only 2 or 3 long time members that have "achieved" that.

Roberttitus: I don't know why people are so concerned with rep points anyways.... they are just a load of shit.

Think about it, do the points do anything at all? NO.

If you wanted people to really care about rep points, make it kind of like Gamersgate reward system where you get more blue coins (in this site's case. so much discounted off of each game) based on your on your level (rep).
I'm not suggesting this to allow someone to award himself rep points. Like I said, I hadn't realized that posts marked as "Answer" were worth those points. The point was to allow someone to mark the "Question/Problem" thread as "Answered", so that others would know, and in the case when no one but the OP could find an answer.

Did you not read my post or what? I'm saying that they have no purpose, not that you are suggesting giving yourself points or something. My point is that since they have no purpose what is the point in people even giving a damn about them in the first place?
Should be easy enough for them to set up the system so you don't get points for answering your own thread. But I do like the idea of being able to mark your thread as Solved if you happen to come up with the answer on your own.
