Does it mean HD remake, or something else? News look good, by the way.
As I read it for 2nd time... sounds like a HD remake... dunno time will tell
The other possible platforms are Mac and Linux Joystiq, consoles are out of the question.

We don't need Baldur's Gate on consoles.... Diablo 3 is going that way anyways :D

They'll probably upgrade to the 3.5 or 4th edition of D&D if nothing else.

AlKim: .
I don't think so. It would require huge changes in game mechanics, scripts, and many more.
how would a HD remake work?

the BG games are 2D so the higher the resolution the smaller the graphics on the screen, which makes going beyond 1024x768 pointless.

they'd have to re-do the entire graphics for a HD resolution (probably 1080p), and i don't see that happening from an outfit like Beamdog...

Trent Oster already set they'll stick with version 2 of the D&D ruleset, as used by the original release of BG 1 & 2.

the last things these games need are changes to their gameplay and content. better graphics, higher resolutions, 3D character models, yes please.

You just need to have more trust in ppl :)
The Infinity engine has been rebuilt, from what i've read on polish gaming sites, so 1080p will be possible.

Now I want Fallout 1 and 2 HD!

... which would probably mean expecting more than what's realistically possible. especially since Atari are involved, and they never have enough money to do anything right.

i think it's only fair to be sceptical at this point.

but how? 2D artwork doesn't scale with higher resolutions. you can already play Infinity Engine games in higher resolutions but all the artwork gets smaller the higher you go with the resolution.

but Oster already said they are basing the remakes on the ToB version of the Infinity Engine.

They can make Dark Alliance 3 for consoles. :) I have 1-2 for PS2, but I've barely played either.
