Now this was really unexpected to me... they're trying to save MoH 2010 with all the gimmicks they possibly can, even a beta invitation for BF3 before the official announcement. (And EA is issuing refunds for who pre-ordered BF1943 for PC, yeah, doesn't smell right...)

I like to think that Medal of Honor will be good based on its own merit. But hey, I'll take the beta gladly!
Pretty depressed it doesn't seem to be PC exclusive anymore. Worried it'll be like BC2, which is awesome but not classic Battlefield. :(

Well Battlefield 2 was on the consoles (360 and PS2 and the original Xbox) and it had up to 24 players, while the PC version had up to 64 players and more stuff. So I think it'll be just like that.

Hm yes I'd forgotten. Hopefully yes then, they build the console versions around the PC version and not vice versa like with BC2. Though Modern Combat was vastly different from anything in the rest of the series, including the original BF2. Would be weird if they did that again. And presumably the beta is multiplatform as with BC2, so I'm doubting PC will lead.
There's going to be a LOT of pissed off people if it doesn't. And I thought the forums were bad now. :P

Maybe, I'll judge when the game is released. I just don't like the two engines story, it's two different games in one... this too, doesn't smell right.
I think the MP game will be great, on PC, of course. I don't care for consoles (but who owns a PS3 should care... ).

BF2 on the X360 was a different game, with graphics even a bit better than the PC, wasn't it? I've never played it.

Yep, it will get worse then... beta will be for the two consoles and PC. There's even a mention of Xbox in the description:
"Beta offer is contingent on Beta availability within 12 months of Medal of Honor release. Beta will be available for a limited time only and offer expires upon close of Beta events. Participation in Beta requires acceptance of Beta Agreement. Must be 18+. Xbox GOLD membership required for Xbox users. Visit www.ea.com/beta for details, including availability."

An unknown site reports on BF3:

Hey now. ;)
A DirectX 11 focus is a promising start, although I do wonder how the console versions will affect the gameplay in general (Battlefield 2 was only on the PC--the consoles got a significantly different game later on).
is bf 1943 crossed out then?

I found this comment interesting:
"Why not make BF3 like they made BF2 - each map having 16, 32 and 64(+) variants. If the consoles cannot handle the larger maps and increased numbers of players and vehicles, restrict them to the 16/24/32 player map sizes.
In BF2 these smaller versions of the maps were contained within the larger ones, offered less vehicles, and rarely offered jets, and if built in a similar fashion on BF3 should be playable on console hardware without restricting the PC experience."
I imagine FB2 would make it much easier to do that.

Not sure. I heard a couple months ago about from the dev it was still in the works, but then a week or two ago that EA was offering refunds.

At this point Battlefield 1943 is pretty much cancelled.
Also, I agree with Jeff Gerstmann; releasing Battlefield 3 on consoles would be a bad idea, unless they can figure out a way to get giant player numbers like MAG did. Even with MAG, they did that through separating several teams from each other so too many people wouldn't be on screen. And even if they were able to reach MAG numbers with everyone on screen at once, it just wouldn't be as special as a PC-only Battlefield 3. Don't get me wrong, consoles should also get Battlefield action. But they should stick to the Bad Company series for that.

MAG works cause the graphics and feature lists are minimalistic. That would be a Battlefield 2: Modern Combat situation which they've said is too expensive to do.
I like the idea of BC being console only and BF being PC only though, but it is not to be.
