Birthdays are indeed a reminder of our mortality, but on the other hand, isn't it utterly fucking AMAZING that we've survived this far? The universe is unbelievably dangerous and it doesn't give a shit about you or me but nothing's been bad enough or big enough to kill us yet, and that's worth celebrating.
