what is this? has anyone experienced it? i sure as hell am not going to sign up for something and then download another client just to check it out.
Given your recent history of spamming questionable links from a hacked Steam account, I'm not going to click any link of yours with so little info attached ;-)
Beamdog is a new digital retailer (based in Edmonton, AB). Uses a client system. They're quite new (started by a couple of ex-BioWare employees), so the choice is limited at the moment, but they have some good stuff from Paradox and 1C and the like. They're also the guys doing the MDK remakes.
I actually won the Elven Legacy Collection from them through a Twiter contest, so I've gone ahead and installed the client. Seems to work pretty well, though compared to something like Steam it is VERY bare bones...the store pages, download options, and that's about it. Download has gone pretty well with nice speed (but then, I live about 15 km from where they're based).
Never heard of them until now

Well, if it's client-based then MyInterest = 0.
I'll keep an eye on them with Twitter but first impressions are that even using dollars they are one of the most expensive I have seen. Add to that a client and nah not interested.
A poor man's GOG (irony), but I'm interested to see how they develop.

Eh... not interested in a client service. Sorry Beamdog, but if I can get the same game elsewhere with less baggage...

EXACTLY! Client Service kinda makes me edgy.

I'm not against client s/ware as long as it makes sense. Steam and Impulse make sense as does the GreenManGaming one. This is just putting more gunk on my PC for no tangible benefit.

GreenManGaming? I haven't heard about that one.

Green Man Gaming is a peculiar service based around the idea of allowing customers to trade their digital purchases back in for store credit. They got some attention when they first announced development, but don't seem to have gotten much traction in the market.
It doesn't hold much interest for me, personally, because I usually buy my games at low prices and keep them. For bleeding-edge gamers, though, it might be appealing.

Then click on the link that says "Continue To Beamdog Store" and you don't have to sign up or download anything.

Yeah same here, for some reason I can't get rid of my games xD Like, I still have an original copy of Fallout, AND the DVD Fallout trilogy pack thing haha.

They are growing just very slowly. In fact they just added Sega as a publisher something I pray GOG will do one day. As for the trading in I don't have much interest in it. I did once trade in Uplink because Steam had that Introversion complete sale so I guess it has it's uses at times. They were also one of the few DD's to have games like Ninja Blade and Dark Sector for a while.
