I have to admit I was toying with the idea of going into Manchester Opera with sign "Dame Edna hourrah @ International Women' Day" - except this was one day too late.

I would love to receive a bouquet at the International Women's Day - but...

... let me rather say hourrah to wimmin as mothers, friends, sisters - movers and shakers - as well as especially to the bothers, more precious than the air to breathe.

What say you?
Its not spelled wimmin.

That is what i say.

Hurrah to women,

- Men wouldn't be here without women!

...mind you, women wouldn't be here without men

Any scientific minds are welcome to prove me wrong.....maybe genetically created sperm....now I'm wondering why I'm still typing...

What are "the bothers"?
I say, only 256 days 'til International Men's Day. Ladies, mark your calendars!

A woman (singular); women (plural). Was being playfully familiar, really - as a woman I think I can afford, but yup, possibly would find the tone different if a fella posted alike. Fair point.

But... even if it will be fine to debate darker reasons why such a day is a good thing to have, I was just genuinely cheerful upon seeing a sweet little article of a young Brazilian (i think?) football player posting a nice Women's Day photo with his mother, sister and a friend.

Substance over form, pray! :-)

DieRuhe: What are "the bothers"?
"More precious than air to breathe." More concretely, I was simply referring to my brother in flesh and blood, without whom I would not be me - hence he is more fundamental to me even than the elemental forces.

Plural because I would hope many a sister with brother(s) shall love their brother dearly, and are so loved in return.

So amongst your relations, there is not a single female you would like to be celebrated? Your loss, I think!

Please - you must know this thread is not meant for that.

More seriously: if you did not even recognize it back down under, why not? In view I even referred to "Dame Edna" in the OP.

If the International Women's Day went as much under your radar as my birthday goes under my bro's - a hint: unless you are yourself a disguising misogynist bla bla bla - it's an impressive day to give women flowers.

Otherwise - check your privilege with ...Dame Edna.

Sis. And right back at you regarding the reply.

You have a proper opinion about the International Women's Day, or not?
Not particularly

So just... posting for what? This day is quite charming in some parts of the world.
