I like racing games but never bought any here for a long time since I didn't have a controller. I've had a controller for about six months now and am in the mood for a racing game or two so I'm looking for suggestions. The ones I'm really considering now are Interstate '76, Pod Gold, and World Rally Fever but I'm open to any of them(other than Flatout, played it on PS2).

I really enjoy the Moto Racer series. Very easy to pick up and play, with super easy keyboard controls. Winning races unlocks new tracks but there's also tons of fan made tracks, particularly for Moto Racer 2, which is probably my favorite between the 3. http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/moto_racer_2
I really like Pod, it was the first racing game I ever played, so I'm a bit nostalgic about it ;-) But I always thought that the racing courses were very good (and sometimes really hard). And even if it's not that important for a racing game, the story of winning the last ticket away from a dying planet was cute. Win or die ;-)
Highly recommend World Rally Fever. It's very arcade-styled, which might be a bit off-putting for a more hard-core racing fan, but if you accept it for what it is, I think you'll have fun with it. I recommend it even more if you like old SEGA racers like Outrun, Hang On, Power Drift, Super Monaco GP, and so on.
i suggest you also Speed Busters
I wish GOG would release Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit.

As do I. I used to have it for PS1 but I'm not sure what happened to it.
I think I'll start with Pod Gold(or possibly Speed Busters, want to look into those two a bit more and decide) and World Rally Fever, thanks for the suggestions all.
