...kidding.

But does anyone know where you can find the first five games translated to english for PC?

I had I and II remakes for DS and then found backups for PC. Have Ys III and IV emulated via SNES but would quickly buy the compilation of the first five just so that I can get an official English translation of V.

I have VI hard copy for PS2.
Don't know.

But I did finish Ys Seven a week ago. It's a simple, fun game. And I love the music.

Yeah the music, illustrations and dialogue for the characters were the high points for VI on the PS2 not to mention that hidden artifacts found in the game where actually useful enough to alter game play rather than just only alter stats.
Sadly the only Ys I know is Ancient Land of Ys (1989).

That's what I was thinking, too. >.>
Isn't "Ys" a board game? Yes, I am sure... a really good one :)
I am not aware of any compilation of the first five games so you seek an impossible goal in that regard.

Getting a complete English collection is probably possible but will involve multiple platforms. Some of the Ys games have been released for Windows in English but only in Japan, and others are only available on consoles.

EDIT: refer to Hardcore Gaming 101's Ys coverage for details on which platforms the games are available on and which versions are in English.

Thanks for the info

The only ones that were ever available to me to purchase where the remake of the first two on DS and VI on PS2.

Via abandon ware and emulation i pretty much was able to gather up the first seven games but I know there are better and more modern remakes of a few of them and V is unplayable unless I learn Japanese. XD
I wish that GOG could look into making a deal with Falcom to sell the Ys series. There are already an number of unofficial translation patches for an number of these games, and it would be cool if GOG, Falcom, and the people who translated them could benefit from that.
there are fanmade patches around up to i believe 6 (else 5) for pc.
i got them from some torrent sites a while ago, patch and game included.
but it seems they deleted them, i still have them on cd/dvd though.

you can always try googling for it, or try piratebay.

hmmm seems harder to find then i imagined, guess i got lucky :p

If you have a PSP then you will find quite a few Ys games available on that platform.
Probably not what you expected/wanted to hear from a primarily PC gaming forum, but your best bet is probably to get a PSP (or a Vita when they comes out). Especially since Falcolm has pretty much been forced to abandon the PC market since it doesn't really exist in Japan and they've been dropped by their distributor or something.

The way I see it, it's better to support Falcolm and Xseed's partnership which would encourage them to release more of their games in the west by buying the PSP games, than to scrounge ebay for a secondhand copy from a collector or pirate it. Also Wyrdwad is a pretty cool guy and deserves the money and attention more than a douche like Nightwolve.

The LEs are kinda nice, with an artbook, soundtracks, Falcolm JDK Band cover albulm, and cloth map. Or, you could get the digital download versions because you could play them on the Vita when Ys Celceta comes out.

I agree 100% with this. Xseed has been awesome in bringing Falcom's games in the past 2 years, and I really hope they can continue to do so with the Ys and Legend of Heroes series.
