Maybe the problem for me is that the news are now on the right side and the games are on the left. I am trained on looking first on the left side. So I can't see them anymore. This and that the news do not feature so much text - difficult to realize that it is news.

Hillsy_: Legend of Grimrock is tempting...
It is priced almost same as a normal GoG game, I wouldn't hesitate. I have a reason to believe it is going to be great. :)

zeffyr: I'm afraid that more community-based GOG will forget about releasing true, old gems. Like Ignition!
Don't worry, I have a lot of faith for GoG. I am sure it will come up sooner or later. After all, it is a GoG. :)

I personally don't see being community-based is bad, we just need to vote and hope to see the games we love.

Titanium: Did I miss it somewhere, or is there a rundown of the new pricing policy? So 11.99 and 14.99 or are there more options?
The only clear answer I got from TheEnigmaticT on IRC is that no game will go above $15. For now.

Interesting. Thanks :)

Ash360: Old games on new systems; that's not going away until there are no old games left, or it gets to the point where it's actually imposable to get older games working on new systems.
Old is relative, in five years time, a game released five years ago will be a decade old. Games will constantly qualify as old since time is a sliding scale.

As to the second point, that's why we created emulators. Our desire to play SMAC and TA combined with our current predilection to run pretty powerful stand alone computers, emulators will always have enough power to run a game we want. Everything from running a copy of Windows 95 in a virtual partition to running a complete computer, the ability is already there, this will just make it cheaper and easier.

They probably haven't gotten that far, any new games will be priced accordingly. Hopefully not at the 110AUD mark most new games in Aus seem to hover around, but above 14.99 definitely.

Great news! GOG's service is getting better. I hope new old games still appear :D
I'd prefer the news to be in the front rather than the catalogue, but i guess it doesn't really matter since we're all here for the games :).

Pheace: And now this top bar takes part of my screenpage where ever I go.
Raina posted this script that anchors the bar to the top in the wish list entry. It requires firefox I think, but it works fine.
Oh, so ascending list is new feature, good. I had PMs broken for months so I was really used to having it that way
I just wish this was an optional feature. I can't think of anything I'd normally read from bottom to top, and I don't see why a conversation should be any different. The old system would auto hide the oldest messages, so you never had to scroll the page to see the newest message either.

Great, it's obviously relatively easy to implement then. Hope they do it.
Don't feel like installing scripts to get around it though.

And yes, I keep getting sent back to an older page after I reply >.<

Sorry to see you changed pricing policy. I liked that you convinced some cheapskate publishers to release games for 10$. I guess it's not working anymore, disappointing.
I was hoping for a new publisher added to the catalogue, but in any case,I like what I see.

I would imagine this might have broken a wall yeah. It probably gives publishers a lot more leniency on arguing price now, where before it was 5.99/9.99 or no dice.

That said, some games that were 9.99 could have used a lower pricepoint imo so a 7.49 at the least would be a good addition.

Bad things about the new GoG:

1. The games. I'm all for new games, but when I voted for them I assumed they'd be ones similar to the old games on GoG and The Witcher 2. If you're going to be releasing casual games like Trine and Machinarium then I'm not going to bother checking the new releases any more.

2. No news page. I've been buying games from gog for two or three years now. I know exactly what the catalogue contains so having the only source of details about new releases - the front page - consist of 75% advertisements does even less to make me want to check what's been released recently.

3. The review system is still useless. Not only are all the old problems still there (unhelpful nostalgia reviews etc.) but now there's an additional one in that it's allowing reviews and ratings on the new game that hasn't even been released yet.

Good things about the new GoG:

1. Um... Oh, you've fixed the phantom forum relies notification that has been lurking at the top of the page for the last couple of years.

EDIT: Oh, and the request site feature is a nice addition too.

So overall I think this is definitely an announcement that could have been much more exciting than it was. Please watch what games you add very carefully, if GoG ends up as just another site full of casual/indie games then I suspect I won't be the only one no longer interested in your new releases.

Indies in gog!? FUCK YEAH!

EndlessWaves: . If you're going to be releasing casual games like Trine and Machinarium then I'm not going to bother checking the new releases any more.
Well, Machinarium and Trine aren't casual games.

First is amazing adventure game, and second is very good platform game. We already had similar games on Good Old Games, and they perfectly fit.

Although I'd not welcome GOG to add just every indie title. There's a place called Indievania for this. GOG should only add serious titles. Not sure how they could determine that, but I guess "widely acclaimed" is good word.
