I remembere playing the demo of this game ages ago back in the 90's and I enjoyed the jumour of it immensly. Has anyone tried the android port of the game, is it any good?

Aaanyway, I only remember how my roommate proudly announced that there's gonna be a new Z game and a couple of days later he came angrily into the kitchen and yelled at those "morons", "assholes" and "imbeciles" for making it a mobile game only. I thought it was iOS only so I didn't ever take a closer look at it. Now that you're telling me that it's available for Android I should really check it out. I guess it's rather meant for tablets though and I barely use mine (which happens to be some cheap no-name model) - I bet the game won't even run.

I fixed the link, it should open the Google Play site now.
Bitmap Brothers.... Ahhh the memories.....

Speedball, Gods, Magic Pockets, The Chaos Engine - some of the great Amiga games

Were any of them released for PC? Would love to play them again...

I think all of those were released for PC as well. I at least did play Speedball and Gods on PC way back and I do think there's a PC version Chaos Engine as well.
Kavcom had to get a licence for this game from Bitmap Brothers.

And that means there's someone GOG can talk to about Cadaver, Cadaver - The Pay Off, and Z of course.

Thanks for pointing this out.
There's also Speedball 2 by another publisher, but apparently that's bugged to hell. :(

Considering 'Cinemaware case' I hope GOG hasn't lost any emails from BB with an offer to put Z here :-)

The problem with Cinemaware titles is that their most interesting games are freeware (Defender of the Crown, Rocket Ranger, Lords of the Rising Sun, Three Stooges, It came from the desert, The King of Chicago, SDI and Wings).

Most of them have MS-DOS versions, but those are not really good, comparing to Amiga or C64 versions (I'm big fan of C64 Defender of the Crown, and I'd buy it on GOG. But I'm not really happy to pay for MS-DOS copy").

I can't see a point in selling those games here - maybe in a Cinemaware pack for 6$, but that's a lot of work for GOG, and not much $$$.

There are also some (3?) Defender of the Crown remakes (by Cinemaware), but I'm not sure if those were good enough to fit GOG.

The question is: concerning dwindling sources of classics - can GOG afford NOT to bring such games as Rocket Ranger or Defender of the Crown on board eventually? I admit they will not make a fortune with them but by not selling them they make 0$.

I would also not overstress the amount of work necessary for making those games GOGs. Technically it should be fairly easy as those are early DOS games. And legal side should also be easy as Cinemaware is small company.

All in all – Take my money! Give me Cinemaware!
"Grunts reporting."

I have the iOS version, it's very good. Certainly much better than Red Alert.

The only thing that bugs me is you use two fingers to group-select your units, and if you don't lift them up at exactly the same time they head towards the last point that you were touching on the screen. Still, not too bad.

Get it!

There was a sequel, called Steel Soldiers.

I actually already did. For the price it's pretty well done conversion all in all. I was surprised how well the touch screen fits on such a fast paced RTS game.

Now, I haven't played through more than one level yet, so I can't give high level analysis of it, but at least in Android the group selecting units seem to work correctly.
