kazmar: Well, as when I got home there wasn't any massive opinion towards anything, I started on Martian dreams played for a couple of hours then had to restart as I had messed up.
But .. But ... Why not the first part? Starting with the second part is maddening, I hate that with passion - it's bad enough that I haven't played previous proper Ultima games. Both games have Verne-esque setting, they have the same engine and no distinct features to speak of, so why not the first part?
I'll pledge to keep an eye on this Gameclub and try to contribute if I know what's going on, or just talk about my impression of a game.

I'll assume that the first game is Martian Dreams?

Maddening? this is Sparta!, I would normally agree that the first game should be played first and then the second and so on. But in this case the first one didn't really catch my attention, I love the lost world (Conan Doyle not Crichton) but Mars looked much much more interesting. and looking into it while the stories follow on from each other there really isn't anything in the narrative which requires that I know what happened in the first.
And given that my time to game has gotten so limited, I'm not going to play through a game I'm not interested in just to "complete the set", it's the same reason as I think I will skip the first couple to ultima games.

But first day down so I'll post my thoughts in the ultima forum!

Oh well, I'll skip the first bit then since I really want to finish the first part ... well, first. Post here when you start the next game, whatever that'll be!
So as a club-esk thing I feel this never really took off, saying that I'm having great fun gaming and posting (as seen the time I have to game is limited).
So I thought I'd try again using the promo this week as a starting point, if I chose a game from the square enix from the next game to club (probably to be run in parallel with my current one) would more people join in?

The only one on the list I have completed (and actually played in any meaningful way) is Deus Ex so no that one.

I am tempted by tomb raider 1 (never ran on my old comp)

I might just be beating a dead horse (as it might kick ya) but I'll try again, but at least the first one got me past the one hour hump.
Well this sounds like a really dandy idea but I won't join now because i'm not much of an rpg guy, but I'll keep popping in to check if I can join, I'm down for Alone in the Dark 1 or Giants. Gonna start replaying Tomb Raider 1 now.
Drat.

I forgot to favorite this thread and completely forgot about it.

During my spare time I've been working on the Geneforge series. I finished the first one, and made a tiny bit of headway into the second one.

I have to say, the series feels fairly grim. The endings I managed to finagle were fairly... hopeless?
The only "good" ending that I've achieved thus far involved siding with a supposed enemy.

I think the series has been described as Brave New World meets... fantasy world.
Does anyone wanna do a sort of collective playthrough for alone in the dark 1,2,3 since it's Halloween season?
