Vagabond: Hopefully I've surpassed the weclock kingdom of notoriety.

Well, I'd say you're famous, while Weclock is infamous ;-)

Wishbone: Now it just looks faded and washed-out. Quite frankly, I'd prefer no shine at all. I'd like to just enjoy the box art. Maybe a slight rounding of the edges to make it look more like a box, but nothing more than that.

I thought I'd make an example of what I mean. I did the center box. The left and right boxes are what they look like now.

blech.
Odd, mine still has the "sharp" shine on it.

It'll be gone after refreshing shelf page.
So say goodbye to it while you still can :)

That was the really weird part, I did refresh the page and it didn't change. After closing my browser, then going back to the page it did change, though.
Could this be a precursor to the long rumoured site overhaul?

Vagabond: God, what a nerdy and obsessive post. I'M SORRY.

On a nerdy, obsessive site? You have little to worry about, my friend. :)

Miaghstir: Still sharp on Colin McRae 2005 and TOCA 3 though.

Obscure too. I'd imagine all removed titles will remain unaffected by this change. It's barely noticeable on ToCA 3 and Obscure though.

It probably didn't clear the cache properly.

Most likely, but it would be the first time I've had it happen with Chrome since I started using it and this was on a fresh install of my OS, so it didn't have a bunch of garbage lying around in the temp files. I've had quite a few minor but odd things happening with my PC lately, probably means something huge is going to happen soon that will wreck the thing. :(

It's coming in small doses so as to not overload the servers when everyone tries to fetch the new data at the same time?

I've just reinstalled Windows thanks to a botched Windows update that seemed to have a knock on effect to a great many other apps and games.

Either that or they're just testing it out on us. They knew someone would comment on it and this is a beta after all.

Vagabond: Maybe we'll see other parts of GOG?

lowyhong: Duuuuuude...
Btw I r liking box shine, but too much bloom for me eyes! Also, will we be seeing dynamic soft shadows next?

Never noticed the shine until it was pointed it out, actually! I immediately disliked it though :D. The new look is way too bloomy/fuzzy/blurry. Riven's cover looks horrible.

It's time-based...my last two games, bought in the last 7 days don't have it...still shiny.

I like that they're experimenting, although glossy shine was better than this one. I'd like to see if shineless looks good next. It would be fun if the designers try a few different approaches and put a "shine style" selector in the user settings.

You can have a look at my no-shine-slightly-rounded-edges design.
The shininess is for the upcoming iPad support.
You know, Apple peoplez like it all shinny. And expensive (read: new, higher price points).

They also like it hip and new. I doubt all the cool kids are playing retro games right now, so ;P...
