It got really positive reviews according to metacritic but someone said it only rang in at 20 hours, that may bother some folks for 60 bucks. I thought I'd throw that out there if you'd rather do something else.

It looks and sounds like a God of War type title, I'm pretty pumped.
"only" rang in at twenty hours? These days we're lucky if the campaign is longer than 10!
How is $60 for a 20 hour campaign a bad deal? People will fork over $15-30 just for a 2 hour movie.
20 hours for a non-RPG I would almost say is too long.
I've played the demo and I can say that game is really good. I don't belive it may take 20hrs. maybe when you try to collect all secrets and stuff but when you only want to complete main stary asap it will be quite short (12-14 hrs max).

Agreed.
As good as the game looks, $60 for 20 hours is just about right. Especially if it plays as good as it looks.
I have waited for this game so long, everything that I have read/seen/heard about it indicates that without a doubt it will be one of the best games this year

It has been 5 years since the last console castlevania release (curse of darkness) and Konami sure took their time with this

I know that the wait will be justified, picking this up on the first day of release here in europe

I would also advise people to get the PS3 version istead of the 360 one, since the PS3 version is the same, graphically, same loading times and comes on one disk, wheras the 360 version comes on 2

This fall in general looks like a good time for new titles not to mention 2011 looks like a dream :)
They turned Castlevania into a God of War clone??? Lame.

I like God of War because it's God of War and not because it takes its inspiration from, say, Double Dragon. Please keep Castlevania as Castlevania-ish as possible.

Curse of Darkness does not exist in my book.

If they could have somehow expanded Lament of Innocence then that would have been great...
Hopefully we can fight Death and Dracula again. They will not survive the night!

apparently you are unfamiliar with the current situation or have been misinformed by dumb people, let me fill you in:

This game takes some elements from GOW indeed but it's a unique game in it's own right

The game FEELS LIKE castlevania, and that's what important, the director of this game himself said that this game is a "spiritual successor" to Super castlevania IV on the super nintendo, It's very straightforward and action oriented, just like the original games

There is a LOT of platforming in this game (just like in the original games) as a matter of fact, some reviewers even complained that there is almost too much of it! this is certainly a good thing!

As a matter of fact, the developer revealed that this game was ALMOST A COMPLETE REMAKE of the very first castlevania game! then they decided to change it

The game timeline wise is supposed to be the very very first game in the series, even before Lament of innocence, even before the vampire killer was created

as you can see, i have been following this game very closely, hope this helps :)

let me know if you have any other questions

So there is some serious whip action in this game, right?? No lame crap like with Hector in Curse of Darkness?? Do you get to use the whip like in the SNES version where you grab onto chandeliers and other bits?? What about combos?? Will it be like GOW's combat or mostly about whipping something until it is dead??

This post is from a person who enjoyed Castlevania Symphony of the Night as the only "non Belmont, non whip" Castlevania.

Lolwut?

DS has released at least 3 castlevania games in the last couple years and they are brilliant.

Curse of Darkness was a decent game but it took many steps back from Lament of innocence, fortunately this game has a lot of whipping and many uses of the "whip" or in this case the "combat cross" which is basically a chain like whip. you start off pretty simple but you unlock many new combos as you progress, you also use the whip for gripping and it's used in platforming (again, just like in Super castlevania IV) the game has many HUGE bosses and plenty of unique moments

Castlevania has come a long way since it's painful progress into 3D on the N64 but this game looks like it will actually do the series justice in three dimensions

perhaps you misunderstood me

I know that there have been releases on the PSP, DS, Wii, 360 etc but I meant a FULL, HOME CONSOLE, BOXED RETAIL game

and this game is the first castlevania game that fits that criteria since Curse of darkness :)

I'm kinda big Castlevania fan so I've preordered it few weeks ago tho got to say the more gameplay I see the less existed I am.
Still not really sure what makes it a "Castlevania" aside from the Belmont name thrown in and a whip.
A friend got an early copy and so far says it's a great game but feels more like a Devil May Cray then Castlevania...
Any way should arrive in 3-4 days
