Clive Barker's Undying, a captivating horror FPS with a dark arcane story penned by one of the masters of terror, is available 60% off today, on GOG.com. That's only $2.39 for the next 24 hours!

There's an ancient realm hidden away from human sight behind the thin veil of what we call reality, and Clive Barker is its dedicated annalist. The outer dimension is much bigger than our own, filled with dark energies and entities, pushing against the curtain, looking for a way in. Sometimes, the veil gives way under the pressure, but it rarely does so without help from our side. Every now and then a human, insane or ignorant enough, will use some strange artifact, carve ancient runes in a doorway, or utter the blasphemous words of a forbidden ritual that was hidden away for ages in some dusty old book. That's how they get through to our side, and they did so from the beginning of time. It's people like Mr. Barker who keep track of the breaches, record the events, and try to bring the truth out in the daylight. In books, movies, graphic novels--the gospel of darkness spreads. This game, just as well, is more than just a work of fiction. It's a warning.

Clive Barker's Undying, delivers one of the most wicked tales of occult terror right onto our computer screens, in the form of a story-driven first-person shooter. With a gallery of memorable characters and locations that will make chill run down your spine, it remains one of the most gripping horror games ever created. The old mansion that you'll be exploring for the better part of the game, is one of the most iconic places in the memories of many gamers, and its ghastly inhabitants surely still haunt their dreams. If you haven't yet experienced this terrifying gem of an FPS, be sure to grab it today.

Never ignore the unseen horror lurking behind the curtain separating us from insanity. Learn as much as you can about the other side in Clive Barker's Undying, for only $2.39 today, on GOG.com! The offer lasts until Tuesday, July 16, at 9:59AM GMT.
damn it, I waste my money on steam summer sale, if only I had known. D:
This guy needs to go back and make more movies. Come on...

HypersomniacLive: Any enthusiast willing to try and sell this game to someone who doesn't even like FPS?

Because, with all due respect to all involved parties, saying that one isn't a serious gamer or "stupid" for not having it their gaming library doesn't really do the trick.

So, Is there anything (what & how) that sets it apart from the usual FPS experience that would appeal/ convince such a gamer?
The atmosphere is what makes it a gem for me. For example, right at the start you see a small pool of water. If you use the scrying stone you carry it reveals what's really there...

It's not a generic shooter experience but a atmospheric exploration game with a first person view that scared me into stopping playing. If you like horror films this is a good game for you. It's more like being in a horror film than a Call of Duty-esque shooter.
Thanks GOG. My wishlist is shorter now.
I bought this during the summer sale, and it's a fantastic game. Lots of creepy locations and interesting weapons/spells. However, if you get this, it's important to SAVE OFTEN. The game can be buggy in places... in one part, I had to talk to a groundskeeper at the front gate in order to progress and he wouldn't appear due to a glitch, leaving me stuck and having to go to an older save.

Also, in one area, I was on the roof of the mansion and could tell that hopping off of the roof wouldn't be a big enough fall to kill me, so I decided to go down and explore, only to find out that none of the doors down there were working (and there was no way back onto the roof) leaving me stuck again! So yeah, things like that are frustrating, but so long as you save fairly often, it should be an enjoyable experience for you.
I had been on the fence about this one not thinking a promo would be this soon. Guess I should look over what Atari has and consider throwing this in too.
Purchased. Too good price to pass.

Drerhu: Just for your information guys..but if you are a player from a "non-english" country, this game haven´t any kind of subtitles (even in english).

I remember spanish subtitles in the spanish version and I thought the english game would have at least english subtitles..but nope, there isn´t even the option :\

(Anyway is an awesome game that deserves to be bought).

DukeNukemForever: From a thread in the subforum it seems only 40% of the dialogs have subtitle, but with the editor it would be possible to create subtitles for every dialog. There is an italian patch that has subtitles for every line, maybe there is something similar for english or another language somewhere. On my quicksearch shortly after purchase I found nothing.
From what I remember of the spanish version, it was full translated..but it was required to modify game files to include them at the cutscenes : \
Purchased this at the summer sale. Unfortunately I'm stuck on the cathedral ruin on the plains a few stages into the game with no obvious way to proceed. Good overlooked gothic FPS though. Has moody level design and a few genuine scares. Arcane weaponry reminds me a bit of American McGee's Alice. I understand the developer planned a trilogy of games but the fact it bombed sale-wise quickly ended that dream, much like the planned trilogy of Cthulhu games starting with Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the EArth.
Nice Promo. One off my wishlist.

Don't know where you are stuck, but remember the "scry" spell is your friend, it's used to solve some puzzles and helps to proceed in some areas

Seconded. Maybe I'll buy this, but then again, I've already bought Alone in the dark, which is a game I probably won't play...(although I'll surely give it a try, only the let's play didn't look that enticing..)
So I'd rather not make the same mistake again .
I¨ve tried the game several months ago and didn't like it. But i think thats because I don't really like to play horror games. For someone who likes this style of creepy gaming experience I guess it's worth giving it a shot.
I remember reading positive reviews of this game in PC Gamer (US version) and Computer Gaming World when it was first released. It looked intriguing but I didn't feel like shelling out $40-50 for it back then.

At today's price, however, it's a done deal. :-)
