I LOVE GoG.com, bringing back all the games of my childhood that no longer worked on newer computers... GoG.com has made my life just a little brighter by taking away the sadness of knowing i could no longer play my favorite old games, because little by little, i can get them again here :)

As such, I would like to do my part for the site.

I've looked through the wanted/wish list to see old favorites and learn about games i never even knew existed, but that sound fun too!

But as i did, i started to see duplicates... for example, i think I've seen 2 or 3 different spellings of 'theme hospital' so far... These duplicates divide the votes and make the list unnecessarily longer to go through.

Not to mention, it seem that some people who use the wanted list can't read, as they ask for recent released titles on Good-OLD-Games.com... I know the good people at GoG.com have other things to do then sort through the wanted list all day, looking for duplicates and silly misplaced suggestions -and i am NOT suggesting to give the power to erase suggestions from the list to users(god knows that would create problems)- but i was wondering if there could be a way for us users to signal a problem so that they don't have to look for it themselves?

It just makes me a bit sad on a site called Good Old Games.com, that specializes in bringing old titles back to life for our enjoyment, to see a bunch of kids asking for and voting for the latest releases which don't -NEED- to be made compatible with newer technology and have no place on this site as they are, in fact, still available in stores as we speak! Some are so new they haven't even hit the discount bin yet for crying out loud...! :(

Some requests are even for games that were never released, if even completed! I think a simple report system could easily be put in place, such as a report button that one could press and this could give options to clearly point why the request is being reported, like "not an old game" and "duplicate request".

There could also be a option to report "console" games, since GoG.com doesn't work with console games (yet?).

PS: I just noticed this typo while writing the title to my question:
Mark as “question / problem” (special category of “help me” topics that ecourages others to answer and earn reputation points for solving your question / problem; offtopic chatter is forbidden)

Cleaning would require hard and dedicated work so I think no one will do that.

Do you mean the users? Because i wouldn't mind helping out when i look through the wanted list, and I'm sure there's others who wouldn't mind.

No, not really users. I think cleaning would require some access to code or at least more options to implement.

hmm... well, I've seen other sites give such 'cleaning' rights to moderators, so the actual team could have it done with out taking away their coding time. :)

1. "wanted" list is not part of forum so forum moderator will not have such options
2. code on this site is original so every new bit needs to be created / implemented

original? You mean they actually created their own programming language for this site? that seem a bit excessive but ok... I was just trying to help.

Not "programming language" but rather "it is not just copy/paste of some CMS".
As I've understood it, that old wanted list is just a place to direct the "where this game at, I wants it on GOG nau" people to (so as to avoid explaining everything to everyone everyday). Maybe GOG will make a new Wanted list at some point in the future, but I fear the old one is beyond redemption.

hmm.. that may be so... it IS a big mess right now...
Perhaps the people at GoG.com could take the good suggestions from the old list to make their own list then. :)
Or make an 'official' list of the titles they can get their hands on, and have the users vote on which they would like to see released soonest.

Any site worth it's weight in screenshots is 'original' then, as i don't know any serious company that would use premade copy-paste formulas, if only for security reasons. ;)

I know my fair share of programming, and it's not as hard as you may think... it's just like speaking a foreign language, it only looks really difficult until you learn how. :)

They could add a vote button for duplicate/bad entries so if it gets hit enough times it gets sent to staff for deletion or not.
Not going to happen. One day something new may come along but for any new user good enough to stumble upon this in the future because they actually did a search, the answer is no.

Of course that won't happen until the search function is fixed. :P
