Although, a plus membership will be required. Which pays for itself given the opportunity to basically back up ALL of my game saves online. Inlcuding the copy protected stuff. Which is a fucking godsend for people like me who have that 100+ hours save in Demon's Souls and such. If I were ever to lose those to a YLOD I think I would give up gaming alltogether.

You can also share saves between PS3's, so for example you can let a friend play around from that awesome save you've got.

Honestly the PS+ is a gravy train once you've paid for it. I paid for 15 months and now I feel like I'm just getting lots of cool stuff for free.
I was really skeptical about Plus, but last month I wanted to get Stacked and I could get that for 11,25 euros or 3 months of Plus and Stacked for free for 15 so I went for the Plus deal.
I have to admit, you do get a lot of cool free stuff.
I don't use any of the other features, but I have to admit having backups of my protected games is pretty nice.
Having to backup your entire harddisk just for those few saves is a bit of a hassle.
LOL I really wanted to get it last month for stacking but not enough cash :(
You guys do know that when your subscription to Plus ends, you do not get to keep anything you obtained while having a Plus account, don't you? In a sense, Sony forces us (I am a PS3 owner as well) to keep renewing our subscriptions to Plus.

Or am I mistaken?
This is a really nice feature and I suppose gives even more incentives to join the great Plus membership program which already gives you a ton for your money

I personally do not see a need for it myself but I suppose I can understand how some people can

You do get to keep anything you've bought that was discounted for plus members, but the free stuff goes away unless you renew your subscription yes.

I'm not sure how they will handle the storage for plus members who don't immediately resubscribe though. Just deleting it out of hand would be a bad move, some players simply forget to renew the subscription. They'll probably keep the data around for a set amount of time, but you won't be able to save anything new to it.

Although, I haven't heard anything official or unofficial about this yet since this was announced last night and went live today.

That, and allow me to add that I doubt if they'll be deleting the files, at all. It could be a good idea to form a "pool" of savefiles, where each savefile will be tagged with the PSN name of each person.

But my guess may be going too far in this case.

Plus in Japan is still a complete waste of time. Seriously, whoever is in charge of it here needs to take lesson from those in charge of the US and UK offerings. And as nice as cloud saving might be for protected saves that can't be copied, that alone does not justify the cost of Plus here.

At least the PSstore in japan is like 10 times better than the US or EU one

If you like buckets oozing with crap, yes. If you like quality games, then no.

Wait, this is an actual value add, what's the catch Sony?

I'd actually pay more, on top of Live, to get this for my XBox 360 games. Losing save files between consoles sucks bad.

I'm betting they maintain it for 12 months or so and just refuse you access. Storage is cheap and getting cheaper by the year.
