I know tihis isnt' sold on Gog. I'm posting it all over.
Okay, this one is really making me angry.
Cold Zero scenario in which you are flown to Russia.
Your weapons get lost in the drop zone, and all you have
on you is a weak pistol and a little bit of ammunition.
The enemies have camoflauge that makes them almost impossible to
see on the screen. Probably bulletproof vests, and certainly extremely
powerful automatic weapons with ample ammunition. There are at least
a dozen soldiers, maybe two dozen between you and your goal on the opposite
side of the map (your case full of weapons). Sneaking does not work.
At all. Even slightly. No matter where you go, you fall into the
vision of a soldier, usually a soldier YOU cannot see.
The mini map with red triangles showing the position of enemies translates poorly to
the action map; you really cannot safely evade enemies using this, and even if you
could there are too many of them to get past.
So, my question is, how the hell do you beat this scenario?

There's a walkthrough for that mission if you want to look for some pointers here, scroll down to Mission #4 - Dikowsk, Russia - i'm assuming that's the corect scenario.
It's a walkthrough for the whole game, so, spoilers.

I had already consulted that Walkthrough. As you can see, it offers almost no help whatsoever on this specific scenario. "hide behind the wall" is useless, since none of the patrols come close enough to the wall to be within the range of the lousy pistol.
Consulting Google, this specific scenario is one that everyone hated, and most persons quit the game over.
Seems as if 99% of games have such a scenario, where the designers take sadistic glee in making things impossible.
I loved that scenario .
