Okay, question is, should i wait for next gen (March) or get two GTX 560 TI's in SLI... i will be using this for a single monitor, but i want the build to run the highest possible settings for a year or so minimum. I think this should be more then enough though. Processor is i7 2600k. so i dont believe i will be cpu limited...

Future proofing is a losing game. If you need it now, get the best now. If you don't need it now, wait for the 6xx's.

The best you can get now would be any of the top-of-the-line two-on-one cards: the GTX 590, HD 6990, or an HD 7990 if you can find one.

An SLI pair of 560Ti's would be substantially inferior to a single 590, which is a two-on-one pair of 570's.

You want it tu run on highest settings for a year? Well just get GTX 560, good cooling, and overclock it :D That's more than a year right there :D Do NOT get 2 cards, it makes like 30% performance increase, not worth it - rather wait for next ... Eh ... Gen.

I've found it to be more cost effective to sit a couple feet further back in most cases than pay for a new card and bump up the detail.

I was thinking of the 2GB GTX 560 TI Gainward phantom :D It looks like a better choice for overclocking (and less noise from what ive heard) and where i live i can get it for $300

Well... Yea, 2 560s might actually be cheaper than one new card :D

Look, I have an underclocked (First of all cooling in my rig is not ideal, I have to get a new cas, and I really don't want games to take performance they don't need) Zotac 2GB 560 Ti and everything works like a charm, including Crysis 2 with everything maxed out etc. And - I repeat - Underclocked! I think that card is pretty much an overkill for whatever today or from near future you throw at it. The only thing that could change that will be the next generation of consoles.

You, my friend, have just made my decision for me, i will now have my gaming rig complete by mid February :D

Well, this card sure as heck serves me great, I hope you'll like it too. Get good air flow in the case and you'll be able to overclock the darn thing, getting even more performance out of it. I would agree that it's probably the card with best price:performance ratio right now. However, if you get a good deal for it, GTX 590 is simply superior.

(well fuck me, is it really 4 times the price!?)

Nah, Asus MARS II 590 kills standard 590's. For $1500 :D you'd have to be rich to get that.
