Hi all,

I just had the idea to run a new contest with something not run before here :)

Content Topic: Make a Game in HTML5 using a GOG Theme (this can be either based on a game available on GOG, or make a game around GOG itself (maybe an adventure about DRM?))

Tools to use:
You can use any tool to this as you wish.

Free Tools:
- Scripted all by yourself :)
- free version of Construct2 (http://www.scirra.com)
- GameSalad (http://gamesalad.com/)
- RPG JS (http://rpgjs.com/)
- Stencyl (http://www.stencyl.com/) (HTML 5 support not yet released)
- Crafty (http://craftyjs.com/)
- Lime JS (http://www.limejs.com/)

Tools where you need a licence:
- GameMaker (http://www.yoyogames.com/gamemaker/html5)
- Impact (http://impactjs.com/)
- Dark Flow (darkflow.net) (Can export to IPad, HTML5 and EXE at the moment, but needs a licence ($9.99) for each platform you like to export)

There are also other tools available. I will try to keep the list up to date.

All the games need to be finished by 31st March.

Rules:
You are only allowed to submit 1 Game to the contest.
The winner will be selected by a voting using a secret formula.

The submitted game must be sent to me (you can use any file hoster to put a zip together).
The Games will be hosted by me, to get sure that no one changes something after the deadline :)

Prize:
2 GOG Games (up to $9.99 each) of free choice for the winner.
1 Steam Version of Sid Meier's Civilization V: Game of the Year Edition
1 Steam Version of Hacker Evolution Duality.
1 Steam Version of Cthulhu Saves the World & Breath of Death VII Double Pack
1 Steam Version of Eye Divine Cybermancy (Contributed by CardMaker57)
1 Gamersgate Version of Crusader Kings Complete
If someone likes to add some prizes... feel free to contact me :)

How the Prizes will be spread? Beginning with the winner, he can select one prize from all available. The next highest score can select the next prize and so on. :)

Happy coding.

This sounds great. Not sure if I'll be able to come up with anything but i'm looking forward to the entries.
That's a pretty steep order mate, but a great idea. There's no way I could do it myself but I'll be fascinated to see the entries.

that seems like a lotta work but what do I know? I'm lazy as hell

edit- I didn't see that you made something in only 10 minutes

edit 2- didn't see the deadline was March 31.

I told you I'm lazy, too lazy to read even

It isn't that hard... the cool thing about the tools listed above... you can do a lot of great games, without any coding required :)

For my demo, there is a bit of extra javascript required to calculate the path of each enemy, but this is minor :)

Keep it simple, and make it fun... all that is required :)
here is a Demo of a possible entry, that would be enough to participate :)

Created in 1 hour, without any skills in arts *gg*
This game is easily possible in the free Version of Scirra, without the use of any programming skills.

Movement: Left and Right Button
Catch the GOG Logos to get points, Get the Steam Logos to lose points :)

There is no goal at all at the moment, so feel free to play as long as you like ;)

I have an idea for one. Now it's just a matter of having the time and learning to use the tools you gave. Thanks for the contest and for the links, also!
you say there are 2 GOG games to win (free choice) but you didn't mention what these games to be won are...?

Also... Challenge Accepted :)

Well, there goes my productive day at work.

Great idea for a contest. I'm marking this topic as a "favorite"!
shameless bump for more attention :)
I'll try to put something together. Not sure if I have either the time or the relevant skills, but might as well give it a shot. Cheers for the giveaway :)
I'll try to put something together, haven't tried any of the tools before though. Only thing I've worked in is the Unreal Engine, but I don't think I'd be able to put together a full game in that by myself, I don't know much about scripting and I suck at creating models/animations, etc. :P

So, Construct 2 it is!
Lulz, I'll make some 16bit video game about the evil DRM Police Squad, DRM Rebellion, and the pirates that only appear for a full 15 seconds
Oh, I have an absolutely horrible idea....
