I haven’t been on the boards lately because I now spend much of my time working. It was tough for me when I couldn’t find a job, but two users were kind enough to each gift me a game during that time. Sometimes playing a game helps against unemployment blues. Now that I’m bringing in a paycheck, I’d like to be able to return the favor, so this here is a contest for the unemployed GOG users to win a game.

To enter, send me a PM explaining your situation. (How long have you been out of work, how has this affected your life, how is the search process going, etc.) Also, let me know which game you would like, and why you are asking for that one in particular.

The deadline is in one week, on June 4th at 1am EST. Only PM submissions will be accepted, but you are welcome to post in this thread as well. Games must be $9.99 or less. This contest is based on the honor system: if you are not unemployed, do not enter. (Furthermore, if you have many games on your account that you have yet to start playing, please give others a chance to win instead. This contest is aimed at those who are in need.) TWO winners will be selected at my choosing.

Good luck and pay it forward.

Bump for those who are online at a different time of day.
I'm unemployed, but not entering. I got HOMM3 yesterday in a giveaway, so i shouldn't be greedy:D +1 for the giveaway, although i hope it doesn't catch on, because people might not feel comfortable sharing things like this, and others might just make up stuff...
I'm now unemployed as I have been retired at 38 year old due to a spinal injury, cant stand or sit for to long. If I do I get severe pain in lumbar region, groin and down both legs, also both tendons in my neck are damaged so get a lot of head aches all the time.. Had to leave an awesome tech job I enjoyed getting up to every day just over a year ago now. Gutted basically, manage to do stuff around the house and little bits for the horse and dog but not as much as I used to.
Does it count if I was making more while on unemployment than in my current piddly underemployment situation? If so, get ready for a long-winded PM :D

EDIT: should have specified. I'm going to wait for some type of yes or no before I attempt my long-winded PM.

Not entering, but this is a good idea for a giveaway. Thanks and +1. :)
Thank you for this giveaway...very nice idea +rep
Not entering, since I was offered a steady job just recently. I was working before that, but only part time stuff, mostly as a temp. Sure feels good breaking out of the perpetual newbie feeling.

Anyway, thanks for the giveaway, and good luck to everyone!

PM'ed and thanks for the giveaway!

Also, before deciding, instead of a $9.99 game could be 3x$2.99 on the next weekend promo? ;)
I'm technically speaking unemployed, but I'm a student, so that does not really count. Noodles are plentiful and I've got plenty of games, so I'm not entering. +1 for the giveaway.
Like AFnord, I am a student. I passed the exams to become a solicitor (lawyer) in the UK but since I am French, I cannot find any training contract to qualify as a solicitor.

Therefore, I have to return to France and qualify as a lawyer there, hoping that it would boost my resume. Or as a plan B if plan A eventually fails.
Wow. Massive props to you for this giveaway!

I was in the middle of writing up my own personal story and struggle with unemployment, but - I realize I have a lot to already be thankful for. Not having a job is one of the worst situations I've ever been in, but a lot more people out there are more deserving of a free GOG game than I.

Thanks again, and God bless you.
Thank you everyone for the positive response.

JTD121 - Thank you for checking first. I'd like to keep this to unemployed only. I know for me it was not only financial stress but that it was impossible to find -anything-, even underemployment.

thespian9099 - I won't be deciding on winners/games until at least the 4th, and I don't know what promos will be at that time.
- bump this up -

great idea! +rep
Excellent giveaway, thanks.

Hopefully this will let more people know about it
