Hey guys,

As I'm running an iMac at home I thought I open this thread to inform you which gogs are running fine within a "Crossover Games" bottle.
Information on Crossover Games can be found on http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/ - It is based on WINE and there is a 30 Day Trial available.
Basically this programm emulates a windows environment without the need of a license.
This is also available for linux but I'm not sure if the compatibility crossplatform, so I will stick with the current Mac OSX 10.6.

Setup:
- Create a Windows XP Bottle with directX and java and make it your default bottle.
- Link .exe files to open with crossover games.

General Rules:
- Install the games with the gog installer as usual
- DosBox games need to be started through the links in the Start Menu
- The Start Menu entries sometimes are created after restarting crossover games
- Sometimes you cannot use the crossover games shortcuts - just click on "open c in finder" in crossover games panel and browse to the start menu entries (C:\User\Administrator\Start menu\gog.com)

Games tested so far:

Jagged Alliance 2
Runs perfect! You can just open the crossover games shortcut to start it.
If this does not work, take the ja2.exe in the install folder.
There is only an error appearing when exiting the game.

Dungeon Keeper

Runs perfect! Take the shortcuts (.lnk) files in start menu folder to start the graphic setup
and game. Change Graphic Mode from overlay to OpenGL to run it.

Screamer
Runs perfect! Take the shortcuts (.lnk) files in start menu folder to start the graphic setup
and game. Change Graphic Mode from overlay to OpenGL to run it.

That's it for now.
I have more games to test and I will try to keep this thread up-to-date.

The only games I had trouble with were the Fallout games. They would only launch if I installed them in Win98 bottles. Someone has since made a CrossTie script though, so now it's a 1 click install. Yay!

EDIT: Wait, that's not entirely true. Arx Fatalis also put up a bit of a fight. I had to edit the something, something in the config. It's been a while. I'll look that up and get back to you.

Just so that there is no duplication of effort: Rampancy and Noan Rand have each created a GOGmix to specify games they have tested and are working on OS X. They are and [url=http://www.gog.com/en/mix/gog_games_on_a_mac_and_how]here. Rampancy also has a how-to thread here. That said a continually updated thread which can act as a central depository which people can submit games to and maybe ask for help would not be amiss. Rampancy and Noan could also then update their GOGmixes and thus keep things relatively synchronized so that Mac gamers will know what does and doesn't work since GOGmixes are a good way to discover games.

Also, I do have some good news for Mac flight sim addicts. A bug has been caught in joystick_osx.c and squashed though the patch hasn't completely fixed joysticks in Wine-Mac. While Red Baron 3D works in Wine for OS X in general, joystick control still does not work despite the patch. However, joystick control in IL-2 Sturmovik now works completely (well my joystick does - another tester found his Saitek's digital throttle still didn't work - note that a digital throttle is not the same thing as a slider axis to control throttle). This is a patch, so current development engines (as of today 1.3.22) do not have the new joystick code. However, it should be included in the next development release.

Oh thanks. I've not seen this stuff. *close*

No worries ... however, having a forum thread to act as a list that multiple people can submit to as a central deposit is a good idea. So I suggest keeping the thread open!

That way as people test games it will be easy to add them to a growing list of known working games. The Linux users do something similar. They have both a GOGmix and a forum thread for games working in Wine-Linux and I think that is a good system.
