So I have been playing this game and I need some help.

I mostly know what I am doing, but the taxes thing is confusing me. I am playing as a independent county or whatever in Ireland. My county has a castle, town, and church, but apparently I am only making taxes from two of them.

The church does not seem to be making me any money. Which is weird because I have the law set up to have churches taxed.

Why am I not getting taxes? Am I wrong and churches are actually feudal so I have to set the feudal tax up? (Also, don't bother mentioning gavelkind, was planning on changing it if I got another county, which I did when my father died. So I'll change that next time i play)

Also, apparently the mayor of the town does not have a successor.

It's open elective it looks like, so I guess I would just vote after he dies? Also, anyway to change that so that I pick the successor myself?

Thanks. I'm probably going to end up going out so I might not respond for a bit.

Edit: Fixed screenshots. Click on them to make them bigger.

I played only demo, but it was quite recently (last week) and from what I rememeber, the bishop pays you more the more he likes you and if he likes pope more than you, he pays to him instead of you.
It's quite likely that I am totally wrong, though. :-)

your taxation gains are modified by various things - your vassal's opinion about you, your technology and few others.

In short - the game simulates actual tax gain. The law is one thing, the actual taxation is another. Try to improve your relations with the clerics first.

maybe your authority over church is so low, that they just simply refuse to pay.

Well apparently that is it. They like the pope more than me.

Time to assassinate the pope then.

Or make them like me more.
Yep, if you are catholic, bishop will pay money only to the pope if he likes him more than you.(trying to ) Assasinating the pope may not be the best idea :D

That was more of a joke. Not really going to try assassinate the pope.

I doubt I can surpass 100+, so I'll just live with it or maybe revoke their church and give it to someone else who will pay.
