I can't find this anywhere here? This was absolutely legendary on the old amiga platform.
If it's recoded and put on here, I'm buying!
Vote for it!

I don't know in what state it is, but it is playable, at least as much as the original Elite 2.
Elite 2 and FFE were re-released as shareware. Frontier's website now focusses on the forthcoming Elite 4, but it seems the shareware version is still around :

Isn't there a big open-source project to remake Frontiers, I vaguely remember something about it

Also, Elite Plus, the DOS/Amiga remake of the original Elite would be great on GOG too. I was very disappointed that the Kickstarter for the new Elite game is a multiplayer thing
There is also Oolite a free fan remake of Elite.

Elite plus ( and the original Elite) can be downloaded from Ian Bell's website. Of course, these games, being milestones in the gaming history, would deserve a better visibility.

It seems there's hope! But little with my dismal savvy. I'm using windows7 64 bit, are any of these compatible do you know?

Update.. "runtime error" this, "what app. do you wanna open with" that, can't I just pay GOG a few bucks and retain my luddite status? Pleeeeease? :P
Oh and that.. think it was the 'Oolite' game, Norton shook it's head quite vigorously at that one so that was a defo no-no for me.

Many thanks to everyone for their responses :D

YET ANOTHER UPDATE

Thanks to a tip on the voting screen, I found this link: http://www.eliteforever.co.uk/downloads.html The nuts, though I can't enter full screen mode without it throwing a wobbler for some reason. But this is just fantastic nonetheless. Soooo missed this *beams*

The frontierverse version of Elite 2 will work from Dosbox ( and if you use the D-fend frontend , there is even a pre-defined profile . Works fine on 7 64bits. I didn't try the earlier elites though
