TheCowSaysMoo: The guys who say the game is good: could you please tell us the platform you're playing it on? Since the 'professional' media give it bad reviews on PC ... this is totally my kind of game, but it looks like a buggy pile of poo according to most if not all pc reviews.
PC, though I was EU release date so I'm probably playing the actual release version.

Played 25 hours now and can't really say I've had much of any bug problems. There's some small annoyances like switching weapons when you don't want to with the autopickup (learn to tap the button when picking something up because it switches when you 'hold' it, which happens with anything else but slight tapping) or when I lost one of my best weapons when I threw it at an enemy, died after and respawned somewhere *completely* different (and thus lost it), but other than that it's been running smooth. Very much worth it in my opinion.

And? How is it so far? :)
I don't believe it, you know that crysis 2 bug I mentioned regarding turrets? Dead Island has the exact same bug!

can't talk. putting machete's into zombies.

decapitating is a bit to hard to my liking, but I like the game as a whole. it started with a whole zombieland vibe, and now i'm in the city and it's all zombie 2. nice. i'm quite impressed, and haven't encountered any bugs yet.
Played Co-op for quite a bit now, alot of fun compared to playing alone. Loved it when me and my friend spammed flying kicks on a thug. The game feels like a gangster mob movie after awhile

Btw, anyone know anyway or is there anyway to drive in 3rd person view?

Not that I know of..

Honestly, it's not that hard to drive. Forward that is, going in reverse is nearly impossible :)

Yeah, I had to do a 20 point turn to continue driving because I couldn't see what is blocking my behind. Rear view mirrors don't seem to work.
So have people been getting more gameplay out of this? I still haven't touched it since the initial 3 hours or so. Waiting for all the shittyness to get fixed (dual screen, mouse problems, etc). Any chance of it happening?

With regards to the mouse issue, I've been thinking about setting up a very high DPI and sens mode on my G500 that I can easily switch into when I need to use the menu. Anyone thought of / tried that?

Dead Island Helper helps you overcome some issues including the mouse movement problem.

Played 40+ hours and the only bug I've seen is the mousepointer disappearing on the map screen which is circumvented by going to inventory instead
I still don't understand what's so special about this game.

I've played 33 hours so far (but only Act 1 as I've started 4 save slots, one for each character). I've not experienced the bug you mention there but I have had others:

A couple of misaligned textures (we can forgive those as it is a common issue with games)

One time I lost sound in-game, it crackled then went silent. Came back during the load screen on changing area but no in-game sound until I restarted the game.

I have had clipping issues, such as a stairwell out of the toilets, no matter how much I ran I couldn't get up the stairs, I just kept sliding back down (after about a minute I finally managed it up through a combination of sprint and jump).

I've had flashing objects and dead bodies on the plank textures at the beach.

I've had a weapon disappear as it was auto-dropped on switching with a weapon from a box, but it fell just under the floor so I couldn't pick it back up.

There is a thug in the "Make Yourself at Home" side-quest who doesn't attack back (done this twice and same both times).

And one time my keyboard stopped responding but I could still use the mouse. However, I think this is a legacy console issue as I eventually managed to recreate the issue by pressing the ~/# button on the keyboard and it toggled it.

Then there is the known issue whereby if you click to leave a menu (such as crafting, levelling up, inventory, etc) then you return to the game with an attack, which is not good if you are holding a grenade/molotov/bomb.

However, all of this said, I still love the game and they are all rather minor bugs anyway that may well get patched out in due course.
What exactly am I playing here?

-Very bad hit detection - you can swipe at a zombie three times and connect if you're lucky, meanwhile the zombie can look at you and you're on the floor
-Weapons degrade stupidly fast, even if it's made of metal
-Why am I paying $$$ to fix a plank of wood?
-Why do I have to press a button to climb ladders?
-Why do I need instructions to figure out how to put some nails in a baseball bat?
-Why can't I duct tape everything together?
-Driving physics - WTF
-Burnt-out cars are for some reason welded to the ground
-Same old zombies respawning in the same damn place
-Awful, awful, awful characters and voice acting
-WHY DO I HAVE TO BEND DOWN TO SEARCH A BAG, EVERY DAMN TIME?
-Textures take a second or two to load
-Inane quests, just gathering supplies even though there are hundreds of energy drinks etc lying about
-Unoriginal monsters (i.e. L4D ripoffs)
-Unoriginal location (i.e. Just Cause 2 island)
-Trailer is NOTHING like the game, whatsoever
-I want to be a blade specialist but I don't want to play as a female character... tough shit
-For a zombie game, there are hardly any zombies
-Zombies level up with you, so what's the point in leveling up when your increased damage won't make a difference??
