This is a painting i own and enjoy very much. My wife does not like it because she feels that it expresses sadness or loneliness. But my friends like the surrealism and stare with amazement. Personally, i feel there is something elusive that teases the imagination.

It´s oil on canvas, 40x50 cm, painted on 1993.
The artist: Oscar Palacios

I'd like to enter for the first Disciple.

My current favorite work of art is some environment/landscape concept art of the upcoming Guild Wars 2. You can see a few here (taken from NeoGAF forum). It always amazes me that those concept art are so detailed and...serious, and it saddens me that you would never see such beauty in-game. :(

Ever seen the movie Fire and Ice in which Frank did the artwork? I believe that that character was the inspiration of the Dark Wolf character. Trailer
I found this randomly on the internet one day.

I find I can interpret it in many different ways depending on my mood.
My favourite thought is that it might be some Cthuluesque horror in the process of strangling the photographer....

I'm afraid I have no idea what it or the artist are called.

I would like to enter both drawings.

Very nice. Both are thought provoking. I especially like the yellow tone on the second picture.

I really like surrealism in painting. For me, art is all about impression and emotions. When I look at some piece I need to FEEL SOMETHING. Something intriguing, striking etc. And then I start to think about it more.

Try to look at more Rene Magritte paintings here: http://www.abcgallery.com/M/magritte/magritte.html

Will do! And thanks for sharing your thoughts on the subject.
Cool all around. Considering Friday for draw. Anyone else?

Still need e-mail addresses from WhiteElk, Detlik, Aningan, and Mohdar (tho I may have yours, Aningan, if it is still the same as you posted in my first contest). Prob wouldn't disqualify you for it, but I do prefer to award the games immediately after drawing the winners (and the gifting process seems to require an e-mail address).

@Gerin: That painting is called [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Dealer_(painting)]Death Dealer. I like his work, too. :-)

@Catshade: Very nice. Another great source of character, creature, and landscape fantasy art is the collectible card game "Magic: The Gathering" (tho the game itself has been commercialized to the point of ruin). I don't have a link handy, but there is at least one (probably illegal, but whatever) archive of the artwork from each of set of cards.
