I just had a interesting conversation with a friend of mine, who actually supports those, in my opinion, shady steam key re-sellers. He always tells how they offer a good deal unmatched by any store and how I should join the party.

I would never, ever buy a game from a company that sells new game keys, sends some photo of the serial to your mail and so on and so forth. I just wouldn't feel comfortable. I'd rather pay more to have the peace of mind that I actually get a legit copy of the game. Well, a license to use that game, at least.

I do use bundlestars and groupees and those bundle sites, which are, basically, key re-sellers, so I guess I have double standards with this.

Anyway, would you buy from them? From any key seller?
If they're legit, I'll buy from them, but if they're confirmed shady sites or I get a bad vibe, then no.
I would not buy from a key re-seller, it is at best a dubious practice, based on exploitation legally grey loopholes (and in some cases - quite illegal loopholes....). Other than that I am quite store agnostic.
If it doesnt require VPN it cant be too shady right? :)

That is a scary thought about buying keys from anywhere that is not Steam.

For me I get Steam keys from GamersGate cheaply or in bundles. As I only buy Steam keys very cheap I can live with the bundled keys being rejects (I dump most of them anyway).

Depends on the seller. If I had *any* doubts that it's a legit business I wouldn't buy from there. But there are definitely legit vendors who specialize in these things. For instance, there's the Polish store keye.pl and I'm positive that it's a legit business and that they have all the necessary deals with all the publishers of the games that they sell keys for.

I wouldn't say you have double standards because bundlestars and groupees are reputable sources. Those other places, that sell game keys. Who knows where they got their game keys from....

I would love to see my friends effected by this. They will happily buy from any website if they think they'll get a bargain. Quite good at suffering from scams.

Well they should be as the effect is two-fold - those who purchased the game got it removed and those who developed the game got ripped off. I know people are generally assholes when it comes to well-being of somebody they can't relate to, but this actually affects them as well.
the only key re-selling sites i actually bought games from were bundlestars, humblebundle, gamersgate and greenman gaming as they all seemed pretty legit to me other than that ill usually check the store pages and other sources before i actually make a first time purchase on anything via the internet
