On topic though. I did play Runescape when I was in middle school, despite the never ending grinding and ever so frustrating magic rune system I had fun with it for the most part. But I moved on to other stuff...Guild Wars 2 :P

Years ago, I didn't think Runescape sucked. I could play it in school after my work was done and no one would bother me. Never payed for their better service, though; always went free-to-play. Unlike MapleStory, however, that's another story. A year ago or so, I played for a bit. Liked the 'new' dungeon system they inputted. Too bad I didn't have anyone to play it with. So I stopped playing after it became a grindfest. Again.
I say now it still doesn't suck, but it's appeal is overshadowed by other (better) MMORPGs. Matter of opinion, of course. For me, unless my backlog of games is empty, I have no reason to go back to it.

new combat system in place is much more fun. I play Guild Wars 2 as well. :P
