I am serious and forgive me if this mention before becauseI feel it deserves its own thread. Do you guys want to see nintendo end up like THQ, collapsing and giving away their IPs to other developers.

What will your reaction be?
Absolutely not, why would anyone want that to happen?

More than anything, I would like to see Nintendo experiment with new settings/characters/etc...

Nintendo can do that?
Not really, but if they did I would be pretty hard-pressed to give two shits nowadays.
No.

I wouldn't mind them converting to being a software-only company though. That's just because I hate that games are spread across multiple platforms though, I wish they were always platform agnostic. I don't need a Sony DVD player to watch Bond movies.
No.
I want to them to stop region locking their consoles and handhelds.

I don't want them to die, but I want them to become a software company like Sega who releases their iconic games to other platforms too, especially the PC.

I would buy the 64bit Zeldas (starting from Ocarina of Time) etc. from GOG in a heartbeat.

EDIT: Yeah I see others already saying the same, not surprising. Stop using games as a way to push your hardware, push the games themselves instead.

Elmofongo: What will your reaction be?
Not really, but honestly I don't really care either way. I was a big fan of the NDS but honestly never managed to care for the 3DS (Mine is taking dust since the day I bought it while I still regularly uses my NDS).

Now that the Castlevania series is basically dead (and let's not talk about Metroid), and as that was the biggest draw for me to buy Nintendo portable console, I doubt I will buy anything new from Nintendo any time soon.
I don't like what Nintendo has been doing this generation, but so far they are the still the least of evils. So, no, I don't want them to die, just get a good hard kick in the butt and start giving a rat#s ass about games the market wants instead of phoning in games like 2D Mario and abusing Zelda and Metroid for insane vanity projects.

EDI: also, more new universes wouldn't hurt either. Thy could use those for their crazy experiments then

Personnal I think its ok they stop because 8 games of the same Symphony of the Night formula in a row in enough.

Do you know why they made 3 "New" Super Mario Bros. as of late? Because New Super Mario Bros. on the original DS was the highest selling game ever from 2006 to sometime in 2010/11, I kept seeing it on the sales charts in Game Informer still selling like hot cakes for years.

Like others, I do not _want_ them to die, but I probably wouldn't care that much if they did. I also believe that they've made enough strategical mistakes in the past few years to kind of deserve it.

That's great, but you can't do the same thing four times in a row and still call it "New". I love 2D Mario games, but I hate the cheap look and the music that makes you ears bleed. i hate the boring uninspired worldsw. I also hate that player 3 and 4 are just some random toads. Why can't we have a proper 2D Mario that doesn't look and sound like some yearly update made by one of EA's third rate sudios? Why can't we play the princess again like in Mario 2? NSMB on DS and Wii got a pass because it had been almost two decade since the last proper Mario games and it was uncertain if the market would still accept 2D games in this day and age. Now we know that the market is not only there, but that it is enourmous. Yet this giant market gets the cheap treatment and the cheap worlds while 3D Mario gets an orchestral sountrack, outer space, giant worlds and even the classic power ups like the racoon tail. WTF kind of sense does that make?

If a phoned in 2D Mario sells great, how well would a 2D Mario that doesn't make you feel like a 3rd rate customer, sell? Up until (including) Mario 4 every new Mario game used to be the best Nintendo had to offer, now we get just recycled leftovers.
I want Nintendo stops making hardware, so we can all enjoy the classic titles both on consolle and PC, just like Sega games.
