I'm guessing licensing requirements. In this case it's not that big a deal because the Steam version of those games is DRM free and there are other places that you can get those games Steam free, IIRC.

Probably at least partly because id aren't to clever when it comes to pricing games that are over a decade old and $10 doesn't seem like quite enough to them.

Maybe not on their online store but each doom game is $9.99 regular price on steam so it has a chance of appearing here.

And they'd probably sell too. But if we're honest here as much as the Doom games were great they're not still worth $10. Doom 3 + RoE would be a pretty good deal at that price. But not the others.

This for $9.99 is something I'd support.

I think Doom and Doom 2 are worth $10 a piece, easily.

Me too.

I'm sure a lot of people would agree. But years ago I could get the Unreal Anthology which contains every Unreal game here for less than $10 and close to DRM free (one serial for the collection).

So if all those Unreal games aren't worth $10 together then no way is Doom.

I don't think you can really compare things like that. I mean Deus Ex is my favorite game of all time and it's been like $2 in Steam sales over the years... it was still worth the $50 I paid for it though, and if it were only available for $50 today I would still tell people to buy it.

Deus Ex is one of my all time favourite games. Right up there with Syndicate if not ahead of it. But if we're honest here it's not just the graphics that don't cut it anymore. The combat was poor at the time and it's just pretty bad now. The depiction of the future was already a bit out of date and looks ridiculous now. The level design had some high points but it was generally pretty weak and actually quite bad in places. The less said about the voice acting the better.

This is coming from someone who loves the game, remember. Worth $50 it ain't.
I suggest zDoom or a similar modern re-engine for actually running the files.
When I can afford it I'm picking up Doom 3 and Exp because I didn't have a computer back in the day that would run them but I was under the impression that Doom & Doom 2 could be found free and I don't mean through Rapidshare.
