eyeball226: You broke Zchinque's test...
I posted about 5 seconds after him, his post wasn't there when I replied.

Race conditions.. evil, evil things.

Race conditions?

eyeball226: Race conditions?
We both "raced" to reply and the timing became very important. In this case, the output was incorrect because I had the last output instead of Zchinque. If the timing had been slightly different and I had managed to submit first, it would have been fine.

One of the advantages of something like phpBB would be that it would have stopped me from submitting, telling me someone else had posted between me hitting "new post" and "submit".

Ah yes, I wish they'd use phpBB here. I'm not sure what the point in writing their own inferior forum software was...

hedwards: I'd rather they implemented proper multiquotes.

eyeball226: You two are idiots, you know that right? :P
Eh, as much as I like spading things, does it really matter? Unless it's a really slow moving thread, I doubt that it makes much difference. And really if you're compelled to post on something within 10 minutes and nobody else has posted there, perhaps you could use some "help."

Plus, I'm pretty sure they've got it randomized so that sometimes it's three minutes and other times it's like three weeks.

It matters if you're in the forum mafia game, editing posts isn't allowed but double posting is. So if there's something you need to add, you need to know how long you have to wait to avoid it merging. You see?

I suppose, but that's all meta gamey.

Good point, trying it again to find if there is any change. Will post in five minutes.
6 minutes test.
EDIT: Doesn't work obviously. I think we can assume it's still ten minutes.

9 minutes

9 minutes again

Apparently 9 minutes is not enough too.
10 minutes test.
Beep, beep, beep.
Aha!?
avatar
eyeball226: Aha!?
You awarded me with answer? Thanks. :-)
Yep, it's 10 minutes it's confirmed now. 9 were not enough, 10 and few seconds (30 at most) were.
Also by accident I found out when you edit by double post and then post again it is created as new post, not another edit. Though it's of no use for mafia game.

Yeah, you put in the effort to find out and I realised that I hadn't given the credit to anyone.
That's interesting about the double posting though...
