I have downloaded DRM free games from GOG, Direct2Drive and Gamer's Gate and they all have on thing in common, I can move either the installer or the installed game from the computer it was downloaded from to the computer at my house that doesn't have an internet connection and the game works fine without every having to connect to the internet.

My question is are there other sites like these for digital downloads either:
1. Like GOG with entire catalogs DRM free
2. Like the other two, most games have DRM but there are DRM free titles in the collection you just have to find them.

Note: My definition of DRM free is not needing an internet connection to activate or play my games.
DotEmu is one.
Steam also has some games that don't require the client.

Does steam have anyway to tell which ones require the client and which ones don't?

No, Steam doesn't tell you that and the client doesn't know. Basically, if it is a game that relies on DOSBox or is a Flash-based game (a few of the indies are like that), you can launch it directly from its executable without even using the Steam client.

If the game requires dosbox or scummVM, they're drm free. That's pretty much it. And some flash games.

They don't tell you when games use dosbox but if they're selling a dos-era game, there's a pretty good chance they're using dosbox and not selling a win95 version (if available) since it's easier for the publishers to have it run via dosbox vs fixing a win95 version to run on modern hardware . You can always check on the boards for clarification.

Isn't that rare enough that it's not even worth mentioning? I mean would those games even make up 1% of their catalog?
You can also download cracked .exe's for games like Oblivion.
The next time it comes around, there's humblebundle.com. Many indies sell their games direct without DRM, e.g. Wadjet Eye.

And for most games that are not using Steamworks.

So you mean there is a way to play steam games that i own without loading up the client everytime?

He asked, I answered.

I agree. It's what I asked. The DRM free games don't make up much of D2D or GG either but I've found a few gems there. I might find one on steam if I know what I should be looking for.

Yup, just fixed Overlord and Overlord 2 that way, like a day or two ago.
Consider Desura too.
