So, for me this demo is fun..

Duke is always duke, and he has a lot of carisma...

The graphic, yes is bad, but not so bad..however i dont care...

The gameplay:

it's ok, but really why only two weapons??? Where is the one man arsenal?
I like to change all my wapons while i am playing
First bad point for me
Second?
Life. This is not cod, i want medikit.. now we have the "ego" basically a shield.

The driving section is boring, nothing special.

But it's fun, we have to see jetpacks, more enemy in screen, better and larger maps, strong bosses.. o well, i hope to see this in duke forever.

Did you tried the beer in the demo?
Love the railgun, jetpack+railgun=lot of multy fun with friends..

Delixe: I personally think Duke could do with a little more development time.
Maybe the whole purpose of this demo is justifying one or two extra years of development...

Shooting is fun, two guns only is bullshit, lack of Mighty Boot is bullshit, runs VERY well on my rig, which is not THAT good, pretty good graphics. No duke boot OR double boot spam? God damnit. The pig cop dismembering is pretty good.

Will probably get when it is discounted in the summer/christmas sale.

Edit: I've read it won't have co-op. Whyyyy. Co-op stuff is always better: See: Serious Sam.

Runs well on my rig too, which is nice, but with "FXAA" on, whatever that is, it becomes a slideshow at times. I assume that is some kind of supersampling.
its the classical 2k bait
1.take over a great franchise name
2.release the game with short gameplay, bare bones content, broken multiplayer and bugs
3. make dlc's for each and everything
4. profit
2K and Gearbox started to dig their graves .

Am I the only one who refuses to buy this game purely because you cannot play it unless you have steam? Sorry but I will not buy a game that restricts me to having to use a service like steam in order to play. In a sense, it is basicly there own DRM, and I hate DRM with a passion. When I buy a game, I install and play. I DO NOT install, then go online, and then play. The only reason for me to log online to play a game would be for multiplayer with freinds. Other than that, I dont see the point.

Me too......(see people, this is a good opposition review, not saying the game sucks and is only worth 5 bucks/etc......if you must criticise then do it right.)

You can play offline with steam, and if you won't buy a game ever(even during a heavy discounted sale to make them lose money but still allow you to play) then your morals are too tight, imho.

How is it an opposition view if you agree?

I can agree with or see some opposition views, it doesn't mean I see ALL of them or agree with all opposition though. To me, it is an opposition view though in that he's basically saying the game need more polish and thus it's an opposition view to my views but at the same time I agree but for different reasons(Duke with extra development time means possibly a better experience than even now, for example.)

BTW to all: I just found out from GBX/etc forums that this is mostly an OLD demo...barring the mine parts added on it's the same demo from PAX........just a head's up. Yes it's a dumb move but then again they probably made enough money to not have to worry about newcomers who hinge their purchases on the demo.

Magnus: Hi guises

ONE BILLION KARMA YEAH
Looks good....here's a review a duke4 poster wrote that I feel is mostly spot on...including some of the cons:

=================
+ I loved the interactivity. The whiteboard, the turd, the minecart stuff, etc. It actually felt like I was in a world, instead of being in movie where I can only control how to take out the bad guys and not much else, like you see in most games today.
+ The puzzles were a nice break from the action. It's a step up from Duke 3D's dumb button “puzzles” and definitely a major improvement from what you see in modern FPS games.
+ The fighting was surprisingly good. The weapons feel really powerful, both in sound, look and their actual strength.
+ The gold pistol is sexy.
+ I loved Duke's one-liners.
+ Lots of attention has been paid to details, like being able to destroy trees and signs. I know that sounds silly, but little things like that show that a lot of care and love was put into the game, and I appreciate that.
+ Runs like a dream. Load speed is really fast, and I had absolutely no slowdown.

- FOV makes me feel strange. I can live with it, but a fix would be nice.
- The gibbing system is weird; you fire a few shots into something, and suddenly it disappears and gibs appear in its place. Other games do that as well, but they do a better job hiding it than DNF does.
- Ego is basically regenerating health. I don't mind it, but I was expecting some of the innovations they talked about in interviews, like how killing enemies gives you health.
- Ripper needs to be more powerful.
- Triggering the “stomp” animation for shrunken enemies that are running around is really difficult. I find that its easier just to smack them with the melee key while you're looking at them than try to trigger the stomp animation.
- The two weapon limit is kinda bleh, but thankfully you're given so many weapons and ammo that it isn't a problem.
- Monster truck takes some getting used to. Once you know how to control it effectively, its really fun to drive.

Honestly, I think DNF is a more than worthy successor to DN3D. If you're expecting DNF to be an overglorified expansion pack to DN3D based on misrepresentations about what Duke3D was about (Serious Sam-type gameplay, extremely non-linear levels, etc), then it is average, but if you're expecting a new game with Duke's classic humor, enemies and weapons, it's awesome. I'd say that DNF is a fresh breath of air for anyone that likes modern shooters, but want old-school weapons, enemies and feel like they're actually playing a game and being in a world instead of strapped into an interactive movie. I think it should appeal to both old school and modern FPS fans because its a good mix of the elements that make both types of FPS great.

I've heard the console versions (at least the X360 version) suck, which is unfortunate, because I think it gives people a bad image of what DNF is actually like. People really should give the PC version a shot, because it sounds like its the best by far.

If anything I would say that the one interested by the demo would be the old timers that want to know if/how bad the game has been dumbed down rather than newcomers who probably have no clue who Duke Nukem is or don't give a damn about it
proof? mafia 2, civilization 5
