I wanted to get feedback from people who are familiar with dungeon-crawlers like Wizardry / Might & Magic / Eye of the Beholder / Dungeon Master / Bard's Tale / etc. anything else in this genre.
Which of these did you think had a really good user interface, and which ones had a UI you absolutely hated?
I remember some anime-themed sci-fi dungeon crawler for DOS I saw on Mobygames where about 85% of the screen was some stupid anime drawing along with party/character stats, and the dungeon view was displayed in a tiny 64x64 box. That's probably the worst I've personally seen.
I also didn't care for Realms of Arkania's UI. Some of the screens/windows were cumbersome to slog through.
I really liked Eye of the Beholder's means of manipulating inventory, although I would've preferred to see that UI in a turn-based dungeon crawler rather than one where a shaky, adrenaline-rushed mouse hand might slip up in a crucial moment.
Any thoughts?
