adamzs: Arena and Daggerfall are freeware, and the UESP has nice fan-made setup packages of them to download, DOSBox included and everything.

Basically fans have created the very same type of DOSBox package that GOG usually makes for DOS games. You have one executable installer that installs both the game and DOSBox and configures DOSBox for you. You do not need to run a separate DOSBox process or even type in anything into the command line to run the game. It's all taken care of.
oh cool thanks guys. I played Wolfenstein, or Hexen can't remember on a dos emu and hated having to use it. Now that windows does all the work I can't even remember the days of writing stuff in dos to run programs.
I really don't see the problem with installing Tribunal from the get-go. I didn't find the assassin that attacks you when you sleep to be annoying in the slightest. He was a little bit of a challenge, but nothing I couldn't handle. Besides which, unless you're playing as a low-level mage, you only ever NEED to sleep if you gain a level. And the Dark Brotherhood armor is unbalanced? Maybe a bit... but considering that there are entire shops that can be cleared out without any sort of sneak skill, thus netting you thousands upon thousands of gold for training and/or high-level equipment, I don't think it's a big issue. Morrowind never claims to be a game immune to being broken. And if it's really that big of an issue to someone, you could just not wear the armor :P.
You know, the silly thing is that I've had a copy of Morrowind since the original Xbox...and it was just SOOO big, I could never get into it.

Because of this, I skipped Oblivion. Skyrim was my re-introduction into Elder Scrolls and it's kinda rekindled a desire to play Morrowind now that I actually know what I'm doing.

From what I know of post-Morrowind TES games, you might be shocked and/or disappointed at some aspects of the game.

And I guess some people think it has a steep learning curve, but compared with Baldur's Gate II I found it to be pretty easy to get into.

The silly thing is that I devoured similar open world games, but it was the realtime combat that threw me off initially. I mean, I was raised on games like Betrayal at Krondor going in, so because of that and only briefly playing Daggerfall in the series previously, I had no idea what I was in for. Actually, I was kind of expecting a bigger version of Fable, which after playing Skyrim for a week now, is what it kind of reminds me of. (Although, Elder Scrolls has soooooo many better character options than the Fable series, in regards to building your PC in any way you want to. Fable has better options in regards to NPC interaction, jobs, owning businesses and houses.)

I'm definitely interested in attempting Morrowind one more time now, though. Maybe even firing Daggerfall up again, just to see what I've missed.
