Seems like as usually here... I'm a bit late to comment on erm... new things. Then here's my very "original" opinion : The game has a lot of potential, and deserve to be re-worked and patched, and I sincerely hope it will, because I don't like to see good ideas and my money wasted.
I was on holidays during the release, and I'm quite happy I was. I didn't have to test it when it released, I decided to not read any reviews/comment before playing ~12 hours, I had some fun but the game seems like a half-filled bottle with a strange mixture, it has some taste but it's a mix of bitterness, fruitiness, sugar and Tabasco... In other terms the game-design seems like it want to do too much things and it mess-up in some areas, like the strategic and RPG aspects doesn't mix very well right now IMHO you don't know if levelling up your lord makes more sense that take a more civ-like approach of expansion and the whole is pretty confusing and not well balanced.
The famous mod Fall from Haven for Civ 4 where elemental designers seems to have borrowed a lot of ideas... even the post apocalyptic background had a better game play in it's early releases back then, sure it was Civ 4 with fantasy but perhaps Stardock should have sought to replicate aspect more solid game-plays instead of going everywhere without any ideas on how to balance it...
I don't worry about patches for this game, but how they'll manage to improve or even rethink their damn mechanics, the ideas are good but suffer for mediocre execution right now... At least I've learned my lesson, I'll never buy any Stardock game that isn't on 60% sale on their damn impulse platform.

Gersen: Nope it hasn't... got it twice yesterday playing the campaign with version 1.07... (the reason why it took me 3 hour to finish the campaign instead of 2 and a half :) )

I don't think what Neil Banfield ment was actually fixing the OoM problem (obviously they try to pin down and fix that too), I believe what he ment was that they'll modify the crc check so that it wont disable the game when the unofficial OoM fix has been applied (as I explained, they have system in place that disables the game if the exe has been tampered with. This included, at least pre 1.07, exe's modified with the unofficial OoM patch).

Trilarion: I am not quite sure if this statement is purely ironic or not. :hmmm: :)

I was being sincere.

Trilarion: I think that people overreact quite often. Stardock just launched an unfinished game which is maybe not that good (I only know one or two reviews.). This is not a federal crime. Its against their former bill of rights which obivously is a morale standard too high for them (and others) and its a disapointment for the fans, in particular if you pre-ordered the game. But pre-ordering a game is quite risky and people who do it, are most probably aware of this. So, lets wait, how the games develops...

Former Bill of Rights? They're still following it to the best of their ability. Wardell has already stated that he thought the game was ready for release. Obviously that wasn't the case. If you look at the first right, they've been honoring it. If the customer doesn't want the game due to all the bugs, then they can contact Stardock for a refund.

Thank you! Sorry, I wasn't sure, not seeing the expression of other people makes it sometimes difficult. :))

This is really the smartest thing to do with any new product from any industry.

THen Wardell is inept as a manager/
The buggy release is Wardell's responsibility. It happened on his watch.

Remember, kids: you can get away with anything just as long as you apologise afterwards!
While I obviously wouldn't equate delivering lousy games with murder, I was reminded of a court scene sketch from Monty Python's Flying Circus when Wardell issued yet another apology (after GalCiv2 and, more dramatically, Demigod) and all sorts of fanboys showered him with praise and promises to go out and buy his broken game to support him and his company. Here's a transcript of the sketch in question, for want of a YouTube link:

He shouldn't have apologized. Gibbs' Rule #6: Never apologize — Its a sign of weakness.
Instead, Gibbs' Rule #18: It's better to seek forgiveness than ask permission, so to speak
