Do you like old games? Do you like old 4X games? Do you like old 4X games where you can take on up to four other players in a Dune-style universe with a complex tech system, active religious forces, and tactical planetary invasion?
Then you should be playing Emperor of the Fading Suns!
Seriously.
(edit: there were links here, they're gone. feh, I asked around and heard it was fine. Anyway, if you want to find it and patch it to hyperion, knock yourself out and get back here)
Once you have a handle on the game, get back here and join the PBEM group! This thread was primarily made to fish for other players; Magnus and myself are definitely in, and we'd love for others to pick up this classic game.
Note: I am probably not familiar to most of you. I'm active on the IRC channel as Peron, and obviously do not post much here. Don't worry, I love you anyway. Also, if the links or the subject are not kosher I'll be happy to kill them.

This looks like abandonware, which you probably shouldn't be linking to here.
Perhaps you could invite people to add it to the wishlist?
Ah, good old EFS. Marvelous game with a fascinating background. It's a shame that Holistic never finished all the planned features, but EFS still stands tall among 4X titles in my mind.
Despite all the time I've put into it, I never got into the PBEM side of things - largely due to the fact that the games I've heard/read about take ages to complete, if they are completed at all. If you haven't seen it, I suggest asking for players on this forum as well. There's usually someone keen to join a game.

Huge game. 4X in space only that when you want to conquer a planet you need to play a similar version of civilization, for each planet you conquer, while at the same time play on the galactic level. I still have the CD somewhere, but I have my doubts it would run under Vista 64.
Too bad the sequel was canceled.
I don't think the installer works under x64, but I'm sure I've read that there are ways around it. I'm sure you could do something like install on another machine and copy the files and registry entries across.
If you're interested in playing it, do a bit of googling...I'm 90% sure there is a way.

Thank you, but there are just too many other games now to go back to play a game I already played a lot. :)
