So it's finally time to get going, 30 minutes left until kick-off at the time of writing.

What are your expectations for the coming season? Are you pleased with your team's dealings in the transfer market?

I expect the battle for the EPL trophy to be between Manchester United and Chelsea once again, with Manchester City as bit of a dark horse. They may be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, but I can also see them struggling with keeping all their players happy and motivated.
I think Liverpool will round out the top 4 - they have made some good signings, but I still don't think they can battle it out with some of the other top teams over a whole season.

Arsenal have, once again, really failed to impress in the transfer market. With Fabregas now certain to leave, and still rumours about the future of Nasri, if they don't make at least one, probably 2-3, key signing I see them falling out of the top 4 this season.

In the bottom, it's currently hard for me to see any of the newly promoted teams surviving. It'll be interesting to see which one of them will end up as the neutral darling - I'm guessing Swansea.
as a Newcastle fan, i dont know what to expect this season, other than the majority of the managers utterances to be boardroom lies from a corporate puppet
Manchester City fan here. Looking forward to the new season.

I have to hand it to Ferguson, he does seem to have added very good players to his team, looking a really good shout for retaining the title.

Not sure about Chelsea, they have a very good manager, but there is always the lurking Abramovic sticking his fingers everywhere. There is also, for me, too much of an age gap in that team. Too many of their senior players are just that, starting to get past their best and may not have the legs for the season, whilst they have plenty of young talent that's a bit too raw. Worse things for me to be proven wrong on, though.

Really hope City push on this season. Our main problem last season was the lack of ruthlessness infront of goal, a few too many 0-0's, and two poor home performances meant their was too much of a gap come the end of the season with United in excellent form all season at Old Trafford. The team needs more width really, all too often the opposition can park the bus and we seem to run out of ideas.

As much as I can't stand them, Liverpool have to favourites above Arsenal to get 4th. Suaraz is a class player, although for me there are real question marks about Carroll, Downing and Adam. Arsenal have not done nearly enough in this window, and if they lose Fabregas and Nasri, they will be even weaker, both mentally and physically.

At the bottom of the table, I see Wigan struggling again, I see Norwich and Swansea fighting relegation along with the usual suspects of Blackburn and Wolves.

I can only have sympathy for Newcastle fans. When the owner is about as credible as Kim-Jong Ill, it really is a sorry state of affairs.
not a great start for QPR

and im amazed Newcastle actually have Barton starting after the recent issues
United, obviously, wins.

Loserpool, obviously, fails.

City will probably be too busy tripping over the big piles of money at City of Manchester Stadium to actually play football.
Fairly good day for West London. Fulham were unlucky not to win thank to Shay Given's brilliant save and QPR were stuffed 0-4 by Bolton. Welcome to the Premier League QPR.
It's going to be a long season for my beloved Arsenal. They'll finish top six, but may fall out of the top four. Cesc and Nasri leaving are foregone conclusions at this point. Asking Wlshere and Ramsey to replace them is probably asking for too much at this stage. Arshavin is already pouting, and Walcott seemes prepared to fall short of expectations...again.

On the plus side, Gervinho looked lively until his run-in with Barton. And Vermaelen and Koscielny looked solid (but there's still a desperate need for depth behnid them). Song is one of the best defensive midfielders in the league.

As for the league as a whole, I'd rank Cheslea and Man U as favorites at this point, seeing as no one else looks ready to challenge. Man City has talent, but will they soap opera themselves short? And 'Pool looked average against Sunderland, particularly in the second half.

As for relegation candidates, I think Blackburn are in trouble this year, which could allow Norwich or Swansea to stay afloat. The little I know about QPR is that I was never impressed with Warnock as a top flight manager while he was with Sheffield United. Wolves and Wigan will probably end up towards the bottom, but should survive.
Well, it's Europa League football for Fulham again this season, with the first leg of the play-off round taking place at Craven Cottage on Thursday.

The opening 0-0 draw at home to Aston Villa was a bit disappointing, but we should comfortably finish top ten again this season.

John Arne Riise looks to be a great signing already, and with a player like Moussa Dembele coming off the bench, who knows what can happen? It'll be interesting to see if Clint Dempsey is still with us by the close of the transfer window, but we've got a couple of youngsters (Frei, Briggs) ready to step up if necessary.

What the Hell is going on with QPR? They've supposedly got all this money, but they haven't really signed anybody of note. Kieron Dyer got himself injured in that game too, didn't he? Can't wait to see them go down; good riddance to bad rubbish.

I'm hoping for another Europe qualification for Fulham this year. The team seems to be poised to eventually contend for a Champions League berth in the future, but they need to consistently finish in the top half of the league first. I have my fingers crossed.

Dyer was on the field for all of 7 mins. Old brittle bones will now pocket 30k a week for the next 10 months doing nothing. Damn fine work if you can get it. As for all the money they are supposed to have well all their fans are saying the same thing. The current theory is that Bernie and Flavio don't trust Warnock and want him out to replace him with some manager of their own choice that's why he's tied with Steve Kean for being the first manager sacked. Happy days if you ask me.

Now steady on there Champs League? I don't think we have a prayer of that. Not with a small stadium and wage cap. I think Europa league is our level at the moment and we are doing bloody well to be there. Unless Chelsea finally f**k off to Battersea we will be forever under their shadow.

Now, I didn't say this year or even next year. But in the future. Fulham has been improving in recent years. And if they can consistently finish top 10 and qualify for the Europa cup regularly, they should see the amount of money they make increase, and thus be able to spend more money on players.

I don't think Mohammed Al Fayed is prepared to make the investment to take us to the next level; our best chance of success is a domestic cup or the Europa League; we came so close two seasons ago!

We are already in debt to Mo for £180Million. It was over £200Million but he has been skimming a bit out of the Premiership payments to essentially pay himself back for the last few years. Actual money for transfers has never really been an issue, if he trusts the manager (unlike Coleman) he will pay the transfer fee. The problem with us is wages, we have very small matchday revenue so our wagecap is around £50k a week which is what Bobby and Brede are on. We can afford to buy players in the £20 million price range but we can't pay them the wages they will demand. This is how Arry managed to steal Peter Crouch by simply offering him higher wages.

We can't re-develop Craven Cottage because the Johnny Haynes stand is a listed building so our only option is to move to a bigger capacity stadium to pay those higher wages. There is rumor floating around that if Roman gets his wish to develop a new ground for Chelsea with 65k capacity in Battersea then Mo will make a move for Stamford Bridge. Which would make sense given our location but getting the smell of scum out of the place will probably take decades.

Ah, but then the whole "back to Craven Cottage" movement will start up again!

Well... yes that's expected but you have to remember there was more to it than just leaving the Cottage. When Mo first bought the club there was no question it was the land he was interested in which is an absolute goldmine right on the banks ot the Thames. It was a business decision nothing more and it really looked likely we were going to merge with QPR and move to Loftus Road perminantly which would have been a disaster. I think during all that Mo did come to have an affection for the club and that's the only reason we still exist. If we ever were to move from CC there will no doubt be resistance to it but if it's for the right reasons then I don't see a problem.
