PMIK: Just to be a smart ass.

There is actually 168 hours in a week.

Coelocanth: I believe he knew that and was just suggesting that if he managed to play a full day's worth in a one week period, every week, it would still take over a year to complete his backlog. ;)
Oh yes I see. Well my smart ass-iness has backfired. I will keep my mouth shut in the future. I mean my keyboard fingers shut, in the future.

You have a great avatar for a smart-ass though. Very fitting. :D

Hehe, your humbled response made me laugh, lol. Very rare when someone admits they were wrong on one of their comments on an internet board though, so cheers to you for that.
I haven't played it yet, but surely Tyrian 2000 doesn't take the 10 hours that the 1 user listed there.

nijuu: Way to go BG1 (58) BG2 (60)
avatar
Miaghstir: I do believe that heavily depends on how you play it. I seem to remember BG1 (with the expansion, i think) being estimated at over 100 hours (150, was it?), while BG2 with its expansion getting an estimate at 200-250.
if thats the case, then average gamer isn't even coming close to exploring everything BG1/2 has. Interesting.

Scribe81: Even if I played 24 hrs a week every week, I still wouldn't finish everything I've got on backlog over the course of a year.
Lucky you. Mine would probably be twice if not three times as long. Yeah, I've long since acknowledged that I'll never get rid of my backlog. Just when I'm thinking I'm finally making a dent more games get added to the list.

It's funny how when I was younger I had a lot less games but generally played them longer, and now it's the complete opposite. "Oh, I might like this game!" *sigh* I really wonder how much money I've stuck into games over the years which I have barely or not at all played. Frankly, I don't want to think too much about it since it'd probably only depress me.

I think we all need to set ourselves free from this feeling of "NEEDING" to play all the games we've accquired.

This idea of a backlog that you must get through misses the whole point of gaming. It is recreation, not another job!

Just buy what you can afford and might be interested in playing and then play whatever you feel like. Play that game you just bought today even if there are 20 you bought 2 years ago but haven't touched.

Free...your...mind!
I has like 300+ games in my backlog xD well im assuming its 300 i lost count but its defiantly over 200.

I can say I be very busy whenever I get round to playing all these games.

Oh, I know that quite well. In fact, I usually don't look at my backlog as something I have to 'work' at. Especially due to GOG's last Christmas sale I've purchased up to about half of its catalog by now. It might look a bit overwhelming at times, but the nice thing about it all is that I can now just pick and choose any particular type of game I'm in the mood for out of that bunch.

Since the beginning of 2012 I've already beaten more GOGs than I've probably finished during the entire last year - distracted by console gaming. Yeah, I'm definitely back on a PC-gaming phase. So far I've gone through Indigo Prophecy, LBA, LBA2, Alien Shooter 2, Lands of Lore, and I'm pretty sure I'm close to beating Crusader: No Remorse.

I'm thinking a nice adventure game would be quite nice after all that action. I may finally give Gabriel Knight a whirl. It's funny how I was very big on adventure games back in the day, but that's one series I haven't touched in any form. I'm quite looking forward to it actually as GK is generally highly regarded. After that maybe some Phantasmagoria.

Oh yeah, I'm very thankful that a place like GOG exists. Lots of great and quite affordable games, 99% of which will run on my rather inexpensive lappie. :)

Not 10h, but probably ~6h. It is a surprisingly lengthy shmup with a lot of levels. Each individual episode is longer than the average shmup actually.

If it makes you feel any better: My backlog (a fare amount of free games on there that I plan to play at some point, but have not got around to, so the number is a tad bit misleading, but even without them, it would be a very large number)

That's very true and it's something I've mused about over the past several months. The best thing I've done is stopped buying new games so I can play everything I've already bought. I think I'm playing like 10 games right now, so I've cracked that NEED to play backlog mentality I had a couple months ago and have found myself having fun playing games again instead of seeing it as a job that needs to get done. So some days I don't even play, and others are like the old school hardcore days where I mash out like 4-6 hrs gaming.
