NV is a pretty well done and polished game. Darn's UI is the only thing I use.
None, most modern top tier games are fine as is. This is self evident, since if the amatwur modders work improved the original product, then they would be professional designers, not amateurs.

Not to start a fight, but that's an incredibly narrow view of modding.

New Vegas alone has mods to enhance the weapon modding system, restore FO1 & 2 weapons, and other mods to enhance the flavor of the game. There is nothing "perfect' about any game.
NONE. Fallout New Vegas is EPIC without any mods!

It's much, much more epic with mods. Not to mention less broken.

That's just silly and you know it.

Most of the really good modders are professionals. Anyone else remember Alien_Slof from way back when in Morrowind? And Bethesda farms ideas back in from community modders all the time. Where do you think horses came from in Oblivion? Or Hardcore mode in FNV? Both were ripped straight from incredibly popular mods made for their predecessors, and I've heard rumors that some very skilled modders have been approached by Bethesda.

You're entitled to your own opinion, of course, but I think the Gothic 3 community would disagree with you as well, considering the fan patch made that game viable (and the company later abused that support and killed their own franchise, but that's another story).

Thanks
Looking forward to Project Nevada for my next playthrough. Should provide a sufficiently different experience.

Are those "mods" though?

I don't really use mods that much. Most story mods are very amateurish and ruin the flavor of the game. I surf the nexus sites and 99% of what I see is frankly embarrassing. That said, I looooooooove tweaks. Tweaks and "hacks" are the main reasons I am a PC gamer. Don't like the blur effects? Turn them off! Don't like the grain filter? Turn it off! Don't like the UI? Use a tweaked UI! Game broken and official support is done? Fan patch! Game not running on the newest Windows? Fan patch!

I don't really consider those mods, I consider them tweaks, and I love them. They're in a very different category IMO.

I never distinguished between tweaks and mods, to be honest. Slof was a professional artist and designer who did incredible mods, and the Gothic example I used was a tweak. For the most part, though, you're right - if you don't include tweaks, mods tend to be very unprofessional, even when done with provided modding tools.

I mean there are good ones, like weapon mods for Fallout 3 or The Dark Mod for Doom 3, but I think the statement that the vast majority of them are unprofessional is not inaccurate.

Ooh, The Dark Mod? Never heard of it, but (I think) I'm one of the few people that would rank DOOM 3 in their top 20 list. What's that about?

It's not really related to Doom 3, oddly. It's a Thief game without the Thief name made with the Doom 3 engine and mod tools. It was pretty good when I messed with it a while back. Gonna really sit down and play it eventually.
Thanks everyone for your plentysome suggestions. :) I suppose I'll play it with just mods that improve the UI and removes those silly invisible walls and other little improvements, that don't affect the game too much... Next time I'll have to try Project Nevada, it seems very cool!
