Delixe: I don't know what you expect me to say. Are EA Support rubbish? Most people say no, they are actually very good. Are there download limits? No one I know has hit one yet. Does 3 active machines bother me? No, because like I said for the average user it won't affect them. You are using your extreme example as somehow the status quo then asking me to see it from your point of view. I've installed Windows about 7 times in the last 3 years and in the last 5 have made hardware changes that would count as another 4 machines. EADM/Origin has never once given me any trouble with regards to activating or deactivating games. A few older EA retail games that shipped with the limited activation SecuROM did but that's nothing to do with the Origin service itself.
the 3 system limit is for steam games?
no.
are you benefiting from it?
no
can it be annoying to many?
yes
is it possible for it to be annoying to you too?
yes
therefore you cannot say the system is alright
There are too many maybe's and could be's floating about at the moment so invariably I return to my own experience with the EA service and that has been largely positive. EA use way too much legalese to cover themselves and it's gravy for the tin-foil hat brigade, just look at the outcry on here at the EULA included in GOG's EA games. End of the day 90% of customers will use Origin carefree and will never have a problem with it. At least that's my personal experience.
I am not asking you to boycott ea store or do anything to discourage the usage of the store...
Thousands of players will suffer from something which is not needed something which takes our customers rights.
What I hoped to accomplish is to make you see that it might be problem. To say: It doesn't concern me but it is indeed a stupid rule.
My first quote of yours was with you being surprised why anyone would need more than 3 simultaneous installs. I tried to just show you the problem...
if origin is only as tenth as popular as steam that's 3 million users. if 90% of people use it carefree there is still three hundred thousand people who suffer minor or maybe major problems because of rule which does not benefit anyone at all.
that is not alright even if i was not in that 10 percent.
Just out of interest why don't you load up the EA support chat and see for yourself how long it takes to get someone online. I guarantee it's closer to 5 mins than 1 hour.
good idea...
