I use a closed-circuit liquid cooling setup for my CPU (Corsair H70), but my other components still need air-cooling. I have a full-size ATX case, too large for setting on top of a desk, so the floor is where it sits. I have two dogs, both of which have long hair and one of which has a mild case of "seasonal mange" or some shit like that, so aside from having to have invested in a home carpet steam-cleaning solution, I'm looking for a "filter material" to set behind, or in front of, the fans in my PC case. I've included a photo of a sample of the material I'm looking for. It came from the back of a hair-dryer. I've tried local hardware stores, but they don't know where to get any.

These may be kind of expensive...

I bought some of those grills a long time ago but couldn't use them (my case's fan holders weren't designed with these filters in mind.) I think I got some of the 80mm aluminum mesh fan filters.

Close, but I've already got grills. And for the $5 they're charging for each aluminum mesh filter, I could get a bolt of the plastic material I've pictured. That and xOxide's aready gone out of business once.
Would window screen work?

You could also try these non-stick scrubbers: http://www.ocedar.com/main.taf?erube_fh=ocedar&ocedar.submit.getProductDetails=1&ocedar.productid=66

Really cheap, available at most grocery stores, and you can probably get a half dozen filters from each scrubber. For bling, get the copper version. ; )

Window screen... There's a face-palm if I ever heard one. I don't know why I didn't think of it before, thanks. But I think I'll steer away from the aluminium/copper/steel screens and go with fiberglass/rubber/plastic. Ungrounded metal just seems like a bad idea that close to a 1200W PSU.

1200 Watts? Wtf man?! Are you powering the control system for an aircraft carrier?

Fallout needs a good system spec to run, you know!

Oh, sorry, I meant Crysis 2. Always getting those two mixed up.

Lol, my 360 can run Crysis 2, it's funny how the epitome of resource hogs now has a sequel that could be run on an average 3 year old Dell computer.

Close. Twin ATi FirePro V9800s and Phenom II X6 1100T BE, for patient imaging. I think the machines at work use Quadros, but I left Team Green around the time Fallout 3 came out, when I found the nVidia cards, or at least their software, became bloated and unwieldy. I could make a joke or reference to the people who make policy on getting new equipment in the lab, but it's not funny anymore.

You need liquid cooling for a work machine? Wow.

At any rate, been thinking about building a dual quad core Xeon setup, but the cost of the mobo is prohibitive. I am sick of nVidia as well, and their crappy cards, only BFGTech made it worth going nVidia and they aren't making video cards anymore, so I'll try ATI again next time.

It's a machine I bring work to home from. I play games on it, too. The LC was a matter of convenience, as installing the H70 cleared up a big chunk of space in the middle of the case for cables, of which there are a bevy. I really miss the Amiga days, when everything was contained within the keyboard, floppy drive included, and all you had to do was connect RGB and Stereo Component cables to an appropriate CRT monitor. And the 9-pin jacks in the back for joysticks and mice were great, because the Genesis also used 9-pin connectors for the controllers.

I remember cutting out the front of the BFGTech boxes and posting them on my walls as a teenager. The robot dogs and tigers and everything, right?
