I just finished my second ever self built computer, and it works great! Actually, it was sort of a "rebuild." I had purchased a new computer from CyberPower in 2010, and in 2011 it was sent back for warranty work. On it's way back UPS played crash cars with the package, and it was badly damaged. The case was literally broke in pieces. Testing showed the motherboard was bad/broken too. The ensuing battle trying to get UPS to pay for it took up most of 2012 and was a failure. UPS will never get another dime of OFG's money.

So, I had to get a new case, new motherboard, and it was basically building it all over again. And I did it, and it fired up and worked right the FIRST TIME.

My first self-build was just a few months ago and I got so much amazing help from these forums that enabled me to succeed that I could never pay you good folks back. But now that I've done another, and couldn't have done that without the knowledge from the first one, I wanted to say THANK YOU once again to the good folks on this forum. You guys rock.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

And this ++
It's easier the 2nd time, huh?:)

Welcome to the world of tinkering with your rigs!
May it serve you well!
You should play Sacrifice on it :)
Awesome, OFG, and congrats on the new build!
Putting it together yourself gives you a warm fuzzy feeling, does it not? :-)
Like I said, I just wanted to thank you guys for all of the help.

The only issue I had/have with this build is the case came with SEVEN fans, and the motherboard only had plugs for five. I'm guessing there must be some sort of adapter I can get that will allow me to plug the fans directly to the power supply, I just haven't looked yet.

Anyway, you guys really are awesome!
What are your latest pc specs?

Or you can build a splitter yourself, that's what I did to connect my two front case fans to the same connector.

I looked for a splitter but didn't find one for sale, so I bought two extenders instead and removed one female connector in order to join the cables together.

That's a damned nice machine, by my book at least.

700W would have been more than enough … I don’t know why gamers always have to use a unit with which you could power a water boiler. ;)
But it has indeed way more graphics power than my single Radeon 6850 – which I like because it never uses more than 130W, and the whole system uses 47W in idle. :)

lol, that sounds like something above my pay grade! Don't think I would know how to do that.

You should see Skyrim, maxed out, on a 42 inch Vizeo LCD (LED backlit) TV. Absolutely AMAZING. I hooked this up in my den with DirecTV and my computer running to the big TV, and it works like a champ. Only problem I'm having is with the wireless mouse and keyboard (Logitech) that don't seem to have the range necessary from the computer to the couch. And no way a wired mouse reaches that far. So I have to get up and walk/limp/crawl (depending on the day I'm having) over to another area to use mouse or keyboard. But the XBox 360 Controller for Windows reaches the couch with no problems. Sitting back playing Skyrim, with a 5.1 surround sound system, on that big screen TV is so much fun..... :p
