keeveek: And Clerks 2 movie was about some douchebags talking bullshit about bullshit. :)
That's a bit unfair, it was about coming of age, the end of an era, true love and bestiality too.

bazilisek: I love The Hobbit. But to be perfectly honest, spending $500 million on four hours of a bunch of dwarves walking around in a bloody forest feels so thoroughly immoral to me I'll probably skip this just out of principle.
My thoughts exactly . Loved the LOTR movies but the Hobbit? Ill pass.
December 2012...Y U SO FAR AWAY?

On the contrary, I want to see The Hobbit maybe even more than LOTR, because I want to see how Peter Jackson will deal with the fact that The Hobbit is basically a tale for kids. That could be very interesting, in a movie-making sense.

For example, so far, the dwarves are far from what I pictured when I read the book - but why not after all? That makes things even more interesting. And oh! Smaug and the great final battle, that promises to be fckn' EPIC!

Peter Jackson will just make it daw serious as usual. And throw in some elves in tights to get the female fandom pegged down.

Out of curiosity, I just looked up LOTR -- the total budget of the whole trilogy (some 11 hours of released material) was $285 million (or about $364m adjusted for inflation). The estimated cost of The Hobbit seems absolutely insane in that comparison. Considering how creative PJ used to be with a shoestring budget, it's kind of funny.

GameRager: Gah those movies were meh.
I'm going to assume that you're NOT talking about The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I'm not saying they were trash, just way overrated. Also animated films trump them any day of the week.

Again, I am going to assume that you're NOT talking about LOTR. {rage_meter_filling_up}

I'm actually talking about the "OMG serious business" that is the Peter Jackson(Michael Bay eat your heart out) set of films.
It looked very much a part of the LOTR trilogy. Almost to the point where I thought they were reusing some of the footage. Hopefully the film will be more... distinct.
Hahaha, it's funny to see GameRager being on the verge of trolling again just to impose his point of view. And it's even funnier when you think how he defended DNF from all the justified critics.

Ahhh, the old internet mind tricks. Good thing i'm way over that and that I will now ignore what you wrote because there's just no point "discussing" with you.

Navagon> yeah, you put the finger on something here. But from another point of view, PJ can't make The Hobbit all cartoony, since it's in the same universe than the LotR. He has to keep a certain coherence, visually speaking. Let's hope the tone on the movie will be distinct.

keeveek: I was replying mostly for the "meh" part. Animated movies were good, of course. But not "Peter Jackson awesomeness" good.

GameRager: The LOTR trilogy, as Clerks 2 put it succinctly, was just three films of walking...and walking trees.
Jersey Girl was just about people working in a velveeta factory, cause all I saw was a bunch of processed cheese.

I'm not a huge fan of the LotR trilogy either, but after Jersey Girl , Kevin Smith doesn't get the right to make fun of movies.

I'm just stating my opinion and having a bit of fun doing so. Stop being so grouchy.

Also if you think this is trolling then you either don't know what real trolling is or know the difference but use the term anyways as a weasel tactic in conversations. I hope for your sake it's the former.

Never saw Jersey Girl either. I did think that line was spot on in regards to the LOTR films though.

As I said though I didn't hate the films. I just don't think they deserve the praise everyone gives them to such an extent. I liked the animated films more. It's a shame the books were never finished in that regard.

I hear you loud and clear. But I still remember how you treated people who were "stating their opinions and having a bit of fun doing so" about DNF. You lost all credibility for me in that very thread.
