But for games actually released on PC Hmmm
The Kristal
Neuromancer
A Fool's Errand

Oh and for those that remember Archon, are you aware that there's a remake on Steam?

Haven't gotten around to nabbing it yet has anyone got it? how well have they done at re-capturing the essence?
Cheers!

blakstar: Just for info, but in case you didn't know, the Fool's Errand is available to download for free.
yeah, should have mentioned that really
Has anyone played 'A Fool and His Money' BTW? Is it as good?
RAMA.

It's an adventure game from Sierra that is based on the book Rama by Arthur C.Clark. In the story a massive alien colony ship appears over earth. Astronauts enter to find it inhabited by various alien races, all of which are unknown to one another. The reason for this becomes clear as the ship departs Earth's space and several astronauts choose to stay on board after discovering that the ship is an ark, collecting species from around the universe and leading them to a final unknown destination for reasons equally vague.

The game is very similar to Ring-world and plays out as a point and click adventure with tough puzzles to solve (such those found in Myst). The game has a lot of live action filming mixed with early 3d rendering which always reminds me of Babylon 5.

I'd just like to get to play it sometime

LiquidOxygen80: You're not the only one, believe you me. My sister and I fanatically played both those games through on multiple occasions. The atmosphere to those was genuinely spooky...it was just always too bad that the "demons" were so cartoony, because it sort've raised an anti-climax to what the atmosphere and lore helped create.

darkvamp001: Lol, yeah, I know what you mean. The only real gripe I have with Shivers and Shivers 2 is the acting... especially Darkcloud in Shivers 2, who SHOULD be scary, but ends up being hilarious. But, I do love the silliness of the acting in these games... I guess it's just nostalgic for me.
The cheese is always what makes those older games so memorable. My parents would play Shivers back when I was starting out in my teens. I remember one of the rooms vividly, well more of the background sounds. The room sounded like soldiers marching and would have creepy music to it. Not sure why but that still chills me to this day.
I actually played Shivers 2, still had a kind of creepiness to it but wasn't the same. Awesome games still though.

HereForTheBeer: D/Generation. Just remembered it last week as I was driving from a customer to a hotel. I don't know if it was forgotten, or just plain purt'near unheard-of in the first place.
Not only do I remember that game, but I wrote a sequel to it - rE/Generation ( http://www.dreamcodex.com/regen.php ). That was my first complete game, created using a terrible game development package and rather horrid Poser people. But it was fun to make anyway. I love D/Generation, both on the Amiga and on the PC.

As for forgotten games, a couple I've been dwelling on since finding GOG are Gender Wars (an RTS based on a comedic war of the sexes) and Meat Puppet (a bizarre isometric game somewhat like Crusader: No Remorse). I doubt either are of the kind of quality GOG looks for, but they did exist. (I still have my Gender Wars CD.)

One other title likely forgotten is Commander Blood. An ostensible sequel to the utterly original Captain Blood sci-fi game, it is more of a point-and-click game with muppets. Strange in the way many French titles are, it is charming nonetheless.

Lastly, who remembers Heimdall? Another Amiga release ported to PC, it's one I think could make a useful appearance on GOG, given the right installer and extras.
Just remembered one more - ZPC. An early FPS with artwork by BRUTE! Propaganda, the KMFDM cover guy. Still got that one somewhere around here too. Could be a novel GOG addition.
