What was the problem with the EHD? How did you recover the data? One of my biggest fear is to loose all the content of my EHDs.

That's why backing up everything you regard as critical is a smart thing to do. I use the simple yet effective "copy everything to an external drive once a month".

And Gilou-My friend suggested I install a different Operating System on my computer, cvalled Umbuntu, and then the new OS could read it, so I transferred all of the files onto my friend's harddrive, then reformatted mine and put it all back on my own.
