Have you tried registering on the main Green Man Gaming site first, and then activating and using those account details? The free game page will still ask for the password twice etc. but it does accept it.

Edit: Apparently my Steam acct is broken and it wants me to re-install the client to fix it.
Suppose I'd need to do that anyway to claim the game.
Just un-installed it a short while ago and want it to stay gone.
