Hey GoG.com

Thanks for all the great games, and for the fantastic experience that was Witcher 2, even if the ending was not as good as the first imo (and the ending counts for a lot).

I'd like to request a game. If there is another place to do this, let me know :)

The game I request is Albion. It is one of my all time favorite games. It was made by Blue Byte and released in 1995. I'd like this released both for my own sake, and for the sake of other GoGers that might have missed this gem.

It is a 3rd person sci-fi-RPG, party based with first person exploring of dungeons and a chess/grid based combat system.

There are three main draws of this game:
1: The culture. The game paints an extremely detailed world, with an alien culture that is so well realized I'm not sure anything can rival it.
2: The sound. The game has a great soundtrack and good atmospheric sound effect.
3: The story. The story is unlike anything anything I can remember playing, and the game is HUGE.

I hope you will consider bringing back this beautiful game, as I will be sure to buy it if you do :)
Voila

Also the word on the street is that if you look hard enough, Albion can be found as abandonware, provided that you can of course be bothered to set dosbox up for yourself.
Thanks for the tip, I know. I own it already so I'm not really worried but its mostly a suggestion so that more people can experience that fantastic game :)

I also found the Wanted list, thanks :D
I would have liked to play this game, yes. What other games are good at creating a detailed world, with a realized culture?
What you may or may not know is that there are a number of similarities between Albion and a famous movie including cat-like blue people. However in ALbion they're not blue but other than that there are a lot of design elements that is strangely similar.

As for the game, I absolutely loved it back in 1996 because of the design, gameplay and overall atmosphere (coming from a stunning soundtrack and great sounds for the time) but I didn't play it much because of the high difficulty. I think that was what stopped it from getting really huge. Well, that and the Playstation...

I have it on CD as well. Haven't played it too much though, I got lost in the city and have always had a horrible attention span for soaking up loads and loads of dialog. And never watched the smurf cat film.

However it looks like a very good RPG for those who love a deep world and I quite liked the mixed perspectives in the game. I keep meaning to try to get back to the game again, still setup in my dosbox launcher.
Its a fantastic game, and very hard at times. One actually has to flee at some points to survive...the best part about it though is the world. And I'd say its a LOT deeper and better than Avatar :P
I just started playing it again on Sunday, so it is quite a coincidence to find this thread. Albion was the first PC game I bought, the first RPG I played and one of the first games I actually managed to beat. It is a fantastic game that truly deserves to be here.
